What are people's thoughts on the snowboarder on the homepage?

This. I have no problem with snowboarding and never will. I pity that you are insecure enough to post a thread bout it

I feel like Bishop was bored and is trying to troll the fuck out of SG, haha
 
snowboarding is just personal preference i don't see why so many people hate on them. the majority of the guys i ride with board. i also think the shot looks sick
 
i was actually wondering the same thing, i kind of thought it was a trap or something to try and stir up some snowboard hate ha
 
I was actually there the other day, and I think this dude was there. He was throwing some sick cork 9s. But I didnt see this picture being taken.
 
I ride almost exclusively with snowboarders so I usually end up watching snowboarding almost as much as skiing. Snowboarding is sick too though, so what what if I prefer one discipline over the other. Its all a part of snow culture and thats what we love isn't it?

No problem with snowboarding, it's a sick picture aswell..

But I do get a little board when riding with boarders.. They're a bit too slow with all the clipping and unclipping and sitting around..
 
It's not just any snowboarder....it's mutherfuckin scott stevens....

Oh and the guy who shot that photo, Aaron Blatt, shot the Keystone photos for Orage's catalog and website.
 
i ride with snowboarders, we can only try and make them aware that they are idiots and do the wrong sport, however until then we can have sweet sessions and share good time on the hill

And now just a reminder, the homepage pictures are chosen by the community now. That page is tied directly into the Photo of the Day, so whatever people rank high enough for that honour also makes it to the front page.

i think its sick, skiing and snowboarding are so similar and theres a ton of snowboarders associated with newschoolers (me being one) and its annoying how people try and segregate the sports so much. i ride with more skiiers than snowboarders and both sports have equal amounts of gnar
 
Yeah its literally chosen by math that calculates out of the way you guys rate it. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with what we want up there. We can't even sway the system without modifying the code right now.

The idea was to put it in your hands - the NS community. You tell us what you like.

So I'm stoked. I think this is totally rad.

 
Well, your junk would be deleted because we don't allow nudity.

However, if for some reason we did (or your junk was actually a ski photo) then yes absolutely you could get people to rate it up. We've been pretty careful about the system so it has some pretty solid 'gaming' protection built in... but I'm sure it will get gamed every once in a while.

When this happens, we'll change the system and protect it from happening again.

TBH though, what I really hope is that as a community we can take pride in the quality photographers amongst us. I mean everyone always complains that traditional media never gives enough exposure to the up-and-comers. We're taking that idea to the next level, and we want to give exposure to ONLY up-and-comers.

If we as a community respect our Athletes, Photographers and Video Producers - we will be the next wave of media creators.

So instead of gaming the system, go in there and rate photos, videos, news and anything else you can rate with your best and most fair mind possible. Then NS will have great content, and it will be made for us by us.

 
10 years ago it would've been progressive and started furious debates about whether skiing copying snowboarding was cool or whether or not it really was or... etc. how bout that?
 
Hah... naw I can handle it. But I do question like everyone else who says this...

If you don't like NS why are you here?

There used to be a ton of different forums. They really consolidated over the years.

 
I like NS I don't think I said I didn't, but I really wish I had an alternative forum. Something almost like the regional section of NS but its own site, if that makes sense. It would be a closer community that concentrates on your region or state. I guess regionals can be like that but I don't think it receives that much traffic (atleast for my region).
