So basically, I found this quiz. It's not completely accurate, but it's kind of interesting seeing the results...

Take the quiz; then post where you are from, and your results.

I live in Western Mass(moved here when I was 3). My dad is from Western MA, my mom is from southern CT.

What American accent do you have?[/b] Your Result: The West

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

The Midland

Boston

North Central

The Inland North

The Northeast

Not too surprised with the results, although I would have expected more Northeast...

So post up everyone!

What American accent do you have?

Your Result: Philadelphia

Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard.

Result Breakdown:

93% Philadelphia

90% The Midland

73% The South

70% The Northeast

70% The Inland North

38% Boston

33% The West

15% North Central

im from NY. but i dont really have a heavy NY accent, maybe a little. i liked that quiz though, it made me realize the differences in language. i should try doing the opposite

Midland, with West as second place. Makes total sense considering my parents.

I've heard though that the "midwest" accent is one of the most neutral accents in America. Anyone hear the same?

What American accent do you have?[/b]Your Result: The Inland North

You

may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary"

but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying

questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?"

Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

makes sense

Your Result: The Northeast

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

mmmm interesting haha

my exact results too, i'm from wyoming. and every i know says i lack any form of an accent too. everyone on xbox live, back when i played, said i lacked one. I dated a girl from mississippi too and she said the same. i guess its because the midland is the cultural dead zone of america

it says no accent, but everyone tells me i have the chicago ahh sounds going.

apparently i say the word "box" like the bahhx.

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio. The Inland NorthThe NortheastBostonThe WestPhiladelphiaThe SouthNorth Central

Boston, with west in a close second. which is weird because i don't think i have it at all, but when i visit friends from chicago, they always tell me i do.
makes sense though considering i live 30 minutes from the bean.

It says I have a north east accent.

City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New

I am from Jersey though so that makes sense, but not north Jersey.

North Central, with boston in a close second

Weird considering I have lived in Boston my whole life.

Good god what an awful result. "The Inland North" I do not get asked if I am from Wisconsin or Chicago, neither do I sound like a person from there. And I Most Definitely DO NOT call carbonated beverages "pop". If I ever heard anyone call soda "pop" I would probably smack them. Haha I do not agree with the results. But as the test says, I may not think it but probably do have an accent from there.

Haha you really call soda "pop"? Do you call a pillow a "pellow" and milk "melk"? That is almost as bad as Vermonters calling soft serve ice cream "creemees". That gets me the most.
