What age to start?

So my nephew is getting older and older and its kinda crazy. He's turning 2 in November. My question is, what age should I buy him his first pair of skis for his birthday? When did you guys start skiing? I'm sure 2 is a little young but I'm getting ancy to get him started

When he can ski on his own, seeing parents out there with those strings attached to 3-4year olds pisses me off, especially in the park.

Start now. Push him around the yard to start and let him get a feel for having skis on his feet, then head to a bunny slope and ski with him between your legs to start. I don't like the rope thing (Racer Chasers) or the tip things (Edgy Wedgy?) because they create bad habits. It's better to let him figure things out kinda on his own once he gets the feel for having skis on and how they slide, etc.

I worked as a ski instructor teaching 3 and 4 year olds to ski. A lot of them had a hard time, but during the 10 lessons I had they all eventually learnt how to ski. I think 3 would be the earliest age though

I started age 2, I remember the rental shop didnt have small enough boots...

So they took the smallest size and duct taped them to my leg :')

check out TGR for a lot more info on getting kids skiing, there are a lot more parents over there then on here.

good place to pickup some gear for the little guy, too

Now. I started skiing at 1. I lived right down the road form a ski resort tho. Its a good memory to look back at your old skis, espicially a part of 60-70's and say damn, I rode these once! If anything, buy them for a memory.
