Agreed, although many believe that he deserved the death penalty this punishment is much more appropriate in my opinion. He'll have to live with the pain and misery for the rest of his life in confined space with little to no outlets to help him cope with the destruction he has caused. Psychologically, that is going to eat him up and kill him slowly from the inside out.

Why should the state of CO spend more money on this monkey taint than they have too? Just to give the people of CO some blood lust?

It is not as simple as: "You have been sentenced to death by a jury of your peers. You will be hanged tomorrow at 9am. What do you want for your last meal?"

Instead it would take years and a lot of tax payer money to go through appeal after appeal.

The death penalty seems like the easy way out to me. They should just banish people like him to a sandy island in the middle of the Pacific and give them one week worth of food.

Spending the rest of your life in jail is worse then getting a needle in your am and not feeling anything while dying.

The dude is mental case just like anyone else that takes their gun out and blows down a bunch of people. Blame it on daddy issues or breast feeding to long, who cares.

Instead of wasting tax dollars on this bullshit, just put a bullet in his head an call it over. Kick him in a grave, call it good. Problem solved.

Now we are talking.

Coming from some who has (dare i say it) side with SJW sometimes, a life in prison is too much to spend on this fuckwad, i think there should be a last meal and then a firing squad. Simple and cheap and our money can go to better places. This should only be reserved for fuckwads such as him and not single homicides

Cool, the guy kills a handful of people and now the taxpayers get to pay for his rent, 3 hot meals a day, his cable TV and all the people that take care of/serve him. What a great lesson to other potential mass murderers - "kill people! Get famous! Retire!" ughhhh what exactly does this asshole have to offer society at this point? I think they should send him back home to his parents...in the form of a meatloaf

Why even have the death penalty?

The death penalty belongs in the past and its shameful that some states still have it. An eye-for-an-eye is not justice, and the dealth penalty accomplishes nothing that it's advocates wish it does.

You missed what I was trying to say. If I can kill 12 people and injure 70 more and still live, why even have it as an option.

I was being flippant...

The point being that the jury made a good decision in not sentencing Holmes to death, and additionally the death penalty shouldn't be an option because...

1. it doesn't have any measurable impact on deterring crimes,

2. it is disproportionally applied to minorities/socially marginalized groups,

3. the justice system is not reliable enough to apply irreversible punishments,

4. people can't even do it humanely (e.g. recent botched execution in oklahoma).

And that's just the practical issues...

i think the death penalty, in some cases, should totally be used. but, instead, we have stright up killers who are past the point of no return still kickin it in prison on my dime. and yours. you pay to keep that person alive. im not down with my earned dollars going to 3 squares, weight rooms, and cable tv for people deemed unsuitable to be allowed free ever again. life in prison = free ride with maybe some forced love by your fellow scumbags. who gives a shit if it doesnt DETER crime from others? the unsaveable motherfucker who is now dead wont be hurting anyone else will he? he is sure detered. its about eliminating a seriously dangerous person, not inflicting punishment. you punish so people learn, you dont kill them so they learn, you kill them so they arent around to hurt anyone else. i agree that the justice system isnt reliable enough for most cases, but when someone is caught on scene, multiple credible wintnesses, and clear evidence is in hand, whjat the fuck are we even having a trial for? if they are ruthless killers or rapists, and its decided that they cannot ever again be allowed out into the world, why pay to keep them alive?

Persueing the death penality costs more than life in prison.

Not by firing squad when someone is obviously guilty (read: Bostom bombers or James Holmes)

Yeah I'm pretty confused by that to how the trial os James Holmes lasted so long.

Interesting reason why they couldn't give the death penalty.

Nine out of the 12 jurors wanted the death penalty. One didn't and wouldn't change their mind. The other two hadn't decided. Because they all couldn't unanimously agree they had to give life in prison.

He was set up. Its a conspriacy.

1. James Holmes had no job, was earning unemployment but was able to purchase close to 10,000 USD in weapons, explosives, and tactical equipment, and this all happened within two months. The chances that Holmes could afford to finance this on his own is highly unlikely. Someone helped finance this attack, follow the money and we will find the masterminds.

2. The testimony of two key eye witnesses totally contradicts the official story of there being one shooter, with no accomplice in the attack. One witness testified that the tear gas canisters came from both sides of the theatre, a second witness testified that before the movie began he saw someone sit down in the front row, and shortly after sitting down his phone rang and instead of walking into the main lobby to take the call, he walked over to the emergency exit to the right side of the theatre opened the door and looked to be signaling someone outside the theatre. Shortly after the shooter made entrance through the emergency exit and commenced his attack.

in my opinion in cases like this where there is no question as to whether or not he was the perpetrator, they should just hang the person and then forget about him or her. Instead they more or less make them into a celebrity who is known around the world, and keep them in a highpoint in the media until everything is said and done with. I had a buddy who was doing time in the same jail as this piece of shit, and he told me that james holmes had more money in his commissary account from donations, than anyone one else. point being there are people that idealize scum bags like this, they should not put a face or name to these assholes, and maybe this wouldn't occur so frequently.

1. Credit card.

2. When you're getting shot at it's very easy to misinterpret events. Read just about any case files on any shooting. Read about the Michael Brown shooting even. 2 witnesses do not overweigh all the other witnesses and forensic investigation. For a conspiracy to make sense, it has to have a point. No radical political shifts were made as a result of this.

3. Evidence photos - Evidence photos have surfaced of a gas mask outside of the emergency exit of theatre 8, police reported that when they arrested the shooter in the white Hyundai outside of theatre 9 he was wearing a gas mask, that would make 2 gas masks that were recovered. Also photos show the AR-15 propped up against the wall opposite of the fire exit door of theatre 9, police radio communications reported that night that the rifle was found inside the theatre, and even if the the AR-15 was discarded outside the theatre do you think the gunman was going to take the time to set the weapon down ? The Hyundai - why was the window missing? I thought he put up no resistance as he was being taken into custody ?

4. Radio communications from the night of the attack -

*First report of suspects was two men fleeing the theatres both wearing back packs, what happened to these two suspects??

*Reports of three people dragging an unknown individual into a non descript vehicle and speeding off

*the majority of injured and witnesses were not given access to ambulances, they were to be transported by other vehicles to the high school. WHY?

* Police radio that one of the shooters may be wearing blue and plaid shirt

*Magazine and AR-15 dropped in theatre

Jet fuel can't melt steel beams.

5. Pool of eye witnesses - It was reported that the theatre had over 300 people in it, there have been less than 10 eye witnesses with a only a few taking most of the spotlight ie. Jennifer Seeger. The KEY eye witnesses seem to have very well rehearsed testimony but have not given much sense to whether there testimony is actually plausible - Jennifer Seeger has consistently given a description of the shooter, that miraculously matches James Holmes to a T, even though she has told reporters that she was face down in the aisle, and surrounded by tear gas/gas obstructing her view. Seeger also described the gas canisters down to the colour, personally I believe this was an impossibility in that scenario. She also mentioned that hot shell casings were hitting her in the forehead as the gunman was spraying the theatre, how is this possible? she was on her front was she not? Another point that should be noted is that for a event that involved 300 people, there has been a surprisingly low amount of postings on youtube, facebook, and Twitter. No one who was involved in this event is talking about it, beyond that small group of witnesses that have been talking to national media outlets.

11. The father of the Batman Shooter is part of the banking elite and has an important role in these interesting times:

"Most important to note about James Holmes, however, this report says, is that his father, Robert Holmes, was said to have been scheduled to testify within the next few weeks before a US Senate panel on the largest bank fraud scandal in world history that is currently unfolding and threatens to destabilize and destroy the Western banking system. Robert Holmes, whose "blueblood" family links go back to the Mayflower, is known throughout the global banking community as being the creator of one of the most sophisticated computer algorithms ever developed and is credited with developing predictive models for financial services; credit and fraud risk models, first and third party application fraud models and internet/online banking fraud models.

Educated at the University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University, Robert Holmes is currently the senior lead scientist with the American credit score company FICO, which was formally known as Fair, Isaac and Company, and which every American citizen is beholden to should they need to borrow money."

I think DlCK was the other shooter and is craving for some of the attention the other piece of shit has gotten. Speaking of shit, since this psycho is a piece of it he should be treared as such. We need a giant toilet to flush him down inro the sewer system where he will drown while being eaten by mutant crocodiles.

9. The fact that Holmes allegedly bought the guns legally, to me this is the biggest smoking gun that this attack is being used as sounding board for the anti gun/disarmament agenda, think about it...most intelligent people who were planning an attack like this would do everything they could to stay off of the radar, buying the guns legally doesn't allow one to do that. What they are trying to do is demonize the legal gun owner, saying hey Holmes wasn't a criminal he was a normal guy who went crazy, and due to his ability to legally buy these firearms he was able to pull off these attacks.

10. The roomates - The initial reports were than Holmes was living with two other people, but once people started asking who these roommates were, the story had changed to no roommates that he lived by himself. The roommate story had to change because everyone was asking the same thing, if Holmes had roommates where are they ? Are they in the apartment with all of those explosive materials? It makes no sense!!! I don't think there were any explosives in Holmes residence, I think that they were buying time to construct this BS story.

I always suspected there to be more than one shooter. Especially, considering the number of key eye-witnseeses that said they saw a 2nd accomplice. Moreover, it is said that Holmes used a device to pry open the theatre door. How could Holmes open the door, then shoot up a theatre, then place a gas mask on the other side of the theatre and then run back to the car and sit in the passenger seat?

What is even more interesting is that James Holmes was was one of six recipients of a National Institutes of Health Neuroscience Training Grant at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Denver. He was a graduate of the University of California at Riverside with a Bachelor of Science degree in neuroscience.

After his years in college, he worked as an intern at the Salk Institute partnered by DARPA of Biological Studies as well as at Miramar College’s biotechnology summer boot camp. Holmes inscribed in his resume that he created a computer program to illustrate temporary perceptions of causality and programmed a flicker fusion utility device. Flicker fusion is used in mind control.

James Holmes also wrote papers on temporary perceptions of causality after college. Part of this knowledge was taught to Holmes by Terry Sejinowski. Terry Sejinowski works to understand the computational resources of the brain itself, and tries to link brain function and behavior using computer models. By using simulations to make sense of experimental data, Sejnowski has helped link biophysical processes in the brain to human behavior. His research has revealed in-sights into a raft of phenomena from vision to sleep to brain disorders.

Furthermore, Holmes referred to John Jacobson as his mentor. Jacobson worked at Hughes Medical Institute at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. Holmes, when attending school in Colorado was in a very specialized class studying things relating to “mind control”. Only a total of 6 students were allowed to attend, per semester, after completing an interview.

I just found Holmes background to be really interesting. None of this could mean anything.

Kind of like this guy?

No family, no job, no income, had 200,000 dollars laying around,1200 guns, yet you thought he didn't do anything for living. Wait no family. No pics, just a sketch!? Just an ordinary, funz guy?? Hmm, what an informative, believable, agenda driven story CNN.

well to be honest i don't think this guy is going to be having very much fun. He's going to ADX Florence in Colorado which one former warden described as a "Clean version of hell" I don't think he will be very happy there.

Well he is drugged. The University is also being very quiet about his connection to them and what he was doing/studying there. He might of been testing on himself and he lost his sense of reality. He has no prior indication of any wrong doing. If this is the way it went down, it is tragic for everyone.
http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/201...lmes-can-be-drugged-for-psychiatric-exam?lite

"The judge's ruling should be overturned on appeal. A defendant should be able to make any legal plea he or she wishes to make without presenting any evidence whatsoever. A defendant should, for example, be allowed to plead "not guilty" without taking the stand or presenting any evidence. Forcing a defendant making a certain plea to present certain kinds of evidence is a violation of the principle that the burden of proof in criminal cases is 100 per cent on the prosecution, and zero percent on the defense."

Furthermore, forcibly drugging a defendant to obtain certain kinds of evidence sounds like the kind of action that we all harshly criticized the Soviet Union for doing or MkUltra.
