West coast playful all mountain pow ski

I'm 5 foot 8, 140 lb expert skier at Alta/Snowbird. I'm currently skiing ARV 106 and love those. I also have some Head oblivion 116 that I've found to be a bit chargier than I wanted. I'm thinking about selling those to get a more playful ski for pow days or days that I just want to play around more.

I'm thinking about Jeffrey 110/108 or Whitewalker 116.

How will those compare to my ARV 106 in terms of stiffness, charginess, playfulness?

I'll probably take them out on some hardpack days too so how well would they do on hardpack?

I’m also Alta/bird and 5’10 140lbs

I’ve skied all these skis, and just sold Jeff’s to buy whitewalkers

The WW is kinda a chargy pow ski. It’s stiff but light. Pretty damn fun ski, I skied a 185 at sammy rec and just bought a 192. I feel it skied short at 185.

the Jeff 108 was totally not my style. It’s a surfy ski and really wants to pivot or just go straight. I found it weird in turns for how I want to be on a ski

arv106 vs WW I’d ski a Whitewalker any day, arv 106s to me are lifeless where the WW has got way more energy

arv106 vs Jeff. Jeff is def a burlier surfier ski, if your not going for something that can charge, but allow you to butter and surf then do the Jeff.

there are some other good skis. JJ UL would be fun. Prodigy 3s are fun. I also ski 189 wides at Alta on fuck around days and those thing fucking rock.

white walker is probably the ski for you. super great balance of playful charge. JJ is said to be the ultimate playful pow ski tho but my vote is white walker.

Are the whitewalkers softer than the arv106? I want something with a little more play than my arv106

Rn I'm trying to decide between 184 and 191 sender free 110's I'm 6'3 and 170lbs. Rode the 184 and it skied a bit short. I asked some homies and they all gave me different answers. One guy even said 176. Screw him.

191 for you no question, im 5’11.5, 165 and i thought the 184 skied more like a 180. if you are worried about the 191 being to long than I wouldn’t hesitate to bump the mount point forward a cm

I was gonna mount +2 regardless.

ya, you will be happy with the 191 even if it feels slightly cumbersome in some super tight places, it will be so capable of utter send that it’s worth it.

Bacon 108 would prob be the most playful all mountain / pow ski option. They're really soft and bendy but I've seen some big stuff sent on them

I've ridden both the Arv 106 and Jeff 108 at Snowbird. The Arv is stiffer underfoot and carves on hardpack a lot better. The Jeff on the other hand just wants to charge then slash (as mikem said). I prefer the Jeff for popping off natural features and for charging through soft chop, but if you value your ARVs carving ability you might not like the Jeffs

It's kinda wacky looking, but the Season Forma might be a good fit for you. It's a ton of fun in powder and is really playful for anything other than riding switch. It also carves on hardpack much better than the Jeff 108 despite being 10mm wider

No. They are stiffer. But they are so light, the ski feels super energetic. Underfoot it’s totally down to charge and run for it because of the stiffness, the tips/tails are pinned up allowing them to release from pow and make slashes. The ski is stiff but light which makes it feel responsive and knifelike unlike the ARV.

ID vote WW unless you just career go to wildcat and only hit jumps, then maybe Jeff.

My local has big ass moguls and a ton of trees. Jerry's too.
