Welding edge cracks?

Would it be possible to mig or tig weld edge cracks or would the heat from welding damage the core/base or significantly alter the metallurgy making the edges more prone to cracking?
 
Could set the core on fire...

But yeah it could make it hot enough to delam the base and or sidewall.

If you're gonna fill it, just extrude some ptex in there..
 
IMPOSSIBLE. edge steel is spring steel, meaning when it is heated it wants to do nothing but coil. I have tried tig,mig and stick welding edges. you do nothing but melt them till they start curling and pulling right out of the core. This happens far before the metal is hot enough to fuse.
