Welch Village Park Expansion

It's only late August but preparations are in full swing for the 09-10 ski season. For those of you haven't heard, we are currently expanding our terrain parks. The advanced park on Lookout will have a line of 3 jumps this season along with a collection of advanced rails and urban features. The bigger expansion will be in the new BoneYard Park. Riders will be able to access this park at the bottom of Nanny's Nob and use 3 different lines of intermediate boxes, rails, rollers etc. We have decided to remove the mountain cabins this year so the Bone Yard Park will be expanded all the way to the bottom of the hill and end up at the base of the zero chairlift. Expect big things from the Welch Village Parks this year. We realize that because of the new Back Bowl last season, our terrain parks were a huge dissapointment. We will make up for it this year. Mark your calanders now for a rail jam on Saturday, Nov. 14. Whether we are open or not, there should be enough snow for some rails, music, and prizes...stay tuned! Snow-making is only about 9 weeks away!

YYEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!! Hopefully this is as legit as it sounds, this winter is gonna be a million times better. And hopefully my park crew app gets accepted!

On sale from Sept. 14 - Dec. 15th only. If you buy the colleg pass before Sept. 30 we will put $10 credit on your pass. Starting this year, our season passes also work like welch debit cards.

If I bought Vikings season tickets last season but didn't go to any games could I get season tickets again this year for free? Sorry...No

Icy piles of death: No

Groomed and maintained regularly: Yes

These features are being worked on starting this week....we are actually being proactive this year. By the time we make snow, there will be a fleet ready to deploy.

sorry. thought the skiing community would be more understanding than a national football team. but i didn't think there was much of a chance anyway. thanks.

Please. My point was this: Don't buy a season pass when we spell out in detail that this pass must be used during this one season. Every ski area in the world has this same policy. If you you buy a pass for a certain season and don't use it, that is your fault, not the ski area's.

K i'm definitely doubting that there actually will be a rail jam this weekend seeing that its a chilly 60 degrees out, but any word? Anything?

So...update?

I've seen a few pieces in "the Boneyard." Are they going to add more?

When and what is actually going on "lookout"? Assuming that's where the advanced terrain is going.

Inquiring minds want to know!

not really sure which direction its going...apparently some time jump at the bottom of jon jon/sweeny was supposed to happen this weekend looks like its not now...and they will always be tossing more rails up in the bone yard....

lookout has been turned back over to the racers.

I went this weekend for the first time (I was holding out for at least ONE jump).

It was pathetic. A huge step backwards.

Its nice that the park is on flat ground now and the so called jump is jump is a mound with no landing. The boxes havent had any of the rust grinded off so it feels like sandpaper and last they dont put the screws in all the way so your edges and ptex gets ripped out. Theres my rant. Park at welch is super weak this year.

Unless they get their park situation straightened out (doubt it) I won't be purchasing a pass for next season. Come on Welch, it's not even January-DO SOMETHING!

same^ I've been a pass holder for four years, as well as a lot of people and it just dissapoints me that Welch really does nothing for the avid park-goers. We pay the same as the people who want to ride or race, but we clearly don't get our moneys worth. And now there's no park on lookout and the park is pathetic. The jump, is also pathetic. It doesn't even count and its almost january. There should be at least two jumps by now. Hyland has about 10.

the only reason i purchase a pass is for when i go skiing with friends from school where we won't be hitting the park at all.
hopefully they get their shit together.

They've added a rainbow rail and a dragon tail since last week. Pretty fun features but still pretty small in the grand scheme of things :(

im friends with the park crew at welch and the park is not going to move over to look out. its going to stay over in the "boneyard" hopefully there is enough speed to hit all the rails

Nope.

So did your friend on the park crew offer an insight into why they decided to flush their park down the toilet?

welch might have moved the park over to the bone yard because of the large amounts of beginners bombing the entire face of look out and then hitting the jump at the bottom.
i liked the park on look out even though it was steep you all ways had speed to hit the rails and jumps

I just talked to the park crew today and they said they should have their jumps by next weekend, and for the rails, there is enough speed, it's just janky

i'd love to get a pass else where but its all to convenient for me in college right now...when i'm done and move to the cities hyland fo sho. its the same thing every year and i've been skiing there 9 years now.

this is dissapointing to hear. I hope they can get it together...since its going to be my only ski option when im at school. which starts in monday....fuuuuck.
