Weirdest winter ever

So, this one ski hill in northern England in the Lake District has had a super weird season so far. Almostall of December they were closed due to 'Too Much snow'. Yeah thats right, the lifts were BURIED, see here:

Now, not even 10 days later they are closed again due to a lack of snow with only 2 open days between having too much snow and not enough snow, see below:

Mother nature, why do you taunt us so?!

Anyone else having a weird winter snow wise? (Lack of snow doesnt count, c

Thats the Raise yeah?

Yad moss in the pennines has had a fairly poor season too, only 2 days so far aswell.

In the east it snowed in october once before anywhere was ready to open and it hasn't snowed since... it's a bummer

similar thing in scotland, decent amount of snow then it literally all melted now it's just coming back.

it snowed all day one morning, i was walking around school and couldn't see 10 meters in-front of me, then it melted within an hour.

by the looks of the second picture I'm betting it rained a shit load. You are not getting less precipitation the temperatures just warmed.

out east us we got rain then snow then more rain then more snow. Mostly on the mountains. Right now in pittsburgh its snowing a little and sticking for the first time since october 30th

there is...

Skicross races at northstar next week just got canceled because they have no snow

i have the weirdest chub goin on right now...the tip is stiff but the base is soft and squishy. anyone else ever run into this?

With united kingdom been positioned on the western seaboard of eurasia, convergence between coastal (maritime) and continental air masses tend to create large temperature instability.

Characteristics of a typical united kingdom winter

-deep snowpack

-long periods of dry weather

-higher-density new snow

-warm tempertures

-most avalanches occur during preciptation or wind events

-mid-winter rain

-shallow snowpack

-long periods of dry weather

-cold temperatures

-less frequent storms

-lower-density new snow

Note: these characteristics are between coastal (maritime) and continental

In the US, its the jet streams fault because its trapping all the cold air and snow and good stuff north of us in canada. I wish mother nature was a real person because i would be slapping them

Manitoba ski season started rough, but now it's fucking great. 8 days already, more to come this weekend. Were getting some fresh right now!!!

western montana having some wierd weather fo sho. not alot of snow and when it does come it either comes with 40 mph + winds (rare for us west of the continental divide ), or its raining at the base and puking wet slush at the top of the hill. never had a year where the top of the mountain is so much different looking then the bottom of the hill. if things ever evened out i think it would be good

Stevens had epic snow for opening week. Then just died for a while and was ice. Then dumped, and rained all over it.

Then dumped again. And is continuing to dump. Haha

Around these parts, that would be below average. Then again, we have received far, far less this December, but so has the rest of the lower 48 and most of Canada.

Got a nice system moving through the Okanagan right now. Looks like New Years is gonna be a fun day to ski.

This looks promising for the future.
