Weird skis at sport warehouse stores

so recently i went to a sports store just cause it was on the way of going somewhere... i always buy my skis at local ski shops or online so i don't really ever buy them at big brands that sell everything like sport chek and stuff so i was curious at what skis the store sold.

I go into the place and find the skis i'm like okay sweet they sell faction, atomic, icelantic, 4frnt ETC.. then im like wait a second wtf, i see a shit ton of already mounted skis and random skis i go over and there is like this ski company called meire or something and im like okay prolly just a small brand then i see a pair of atomic bent chetlers and beside them are another pair but the other pair is probably like 78 underfoot and the graphics look like a 2 year old copy and pasted them on them cause they were all squished.!then i saw a pair of 4frnt crjs mounted with some binding company called like 1st descent or something and they are mounted center and the tips are probably 140 width and the tails like 100 width.. along with some boots that were obvious copy of full tilts called one degree, an atomic ski called vantage point that looked like the infamous but red graphics. sorry im writing this on mobile btw.

So can someone tell me or give me a clue as to why its like that?

I have also heard stories from other people that sport chek sells skis super cheap like 400$ for ski and binding for example a ski like the k2 press.

this makes me suspicious about if the skis are actually the skis i want or if they are branded that but are made of some other material or something.

once again sorry for the typing im on mobile atm.

turns out the boots i was talking about are made by icelantic and meiere skis are just a small company but still doesn't explain the other stuff.

also just clear this up they were not the bent chetler minis and the atomic "vantage point" is not part of the atomic vantage series even though it did have red graphics there is no way it was part of that series

Large companies like Sport Chek will buy deck skis. In exchange for purchasing large quantities of a certain model, manufacturers will put slightly different topsheets on them to make them chain exclusive. Sometimes it will be a different color, sometimes it will be a change in name.

sounds like a scam too me

yeah thats what i think to because i also know that sport chek like 6 years ago sold a all mountain ski (forget the name) but it was a common all mountain ski and it was called the same thing as the company on it and same graphics but in the fine print or something it said it was sold as the "special edition" where it said no where on the ski and it was in like font size 0 haha the ski was pretty much just a crappy version it had like no metal in the core which the ski was meant to have it was some how heavier and a bunch of other stuff.

deck skis?

interesting, but still doesn't explain the weird sizes.

They are called SMU's (special make ups). A lot of the time they are like mixes of 2 skis in a series taking elements of both. Ie taking some nicer pieces of higher end skis and using them in the lower models to increase the performance while keeping the price relatively inexpensive. I know sport chek does it with skis and hockey equipment. I can't say I have heard anything about those bindings or the odd CRJ's though.
