Yes I know another weed thread. Anyways, I saw a documentary about weed with David Suzuki and essentially by all means it's ok but it greatly increases your chance on having skitzophrenia (sorry if bad spelling)Anyone else heard this?
 
Yea but see thats this thing. By natural selection, groweres over the past 30 years have been using natural selection to get the best weed out there. Weed today is 10 times more potent than it was back then.
 
For all of you that are joking around, yea i like it too its fun, but that doesnt stop the fact that it greatly increases your chance for mental illness. Its true and not many people accept this.

no its not actually, but if you don't already have any predisposition for becoming schizophrenic, you don't have much to worry about.
 
Lol sorry dude but you just cited your sources as burnt out 50 year olds. Nic is right and same with the OP marijuana is the number one drug that induces schizophrenia in humans. What nic said was correct, if you're predisposed to the illness you can activate it by smoking pot. This isn't bullshit, what 50 year old burn outs tell you is bullshit.
 
if you read my post the reference to 50 year olds was about the potency of marijuana, thanks for proving you are a shithead i dont need to argue with you further
 
haha thats what my paretns have always said. sure there is real potent weed especially if you're buying from dispenseries but otherwise sometimes you get real dank weed and soemtimes you get weed from less potent strains...
however, its just ignorant to say that overall all weed out there today is 10 times stronger than it used to be

haha ok i just get pissed off when people make crazy claims about weed, and im sure there are some studies that show a link but if you look at the issue of global warming as an example scientists can make anything look like it has been scientifically proven going either way, many of the studies i have seen on this lump marijuana in with other street drugs when they make this claim and I definitely believe other drugs such as LSD can lead to schizophrenia but i highly doubt weed does
 
My good friends neighbor had a family with a history of schizophrenia, he ignored all warnings and smoked tons of weed. He ended up killing himself because he couldn't handle the voices inside his head anymore. Shits real man, don't deny facts. Marijuana is the number one drug that can lead to schizophrenia. Do your research before you make such ridiculous claims.
 
I know a guy that supposedly has ED now because of smoking pot too much. Or he just can't get it up, no idea which. He smokes a shit ton though.

And I know this cause his Ex told me so.

Although it is a relatively a very harmless drug, it can cause mental illnesses. It's very rare cases, but a couple weeks ago a friend at our school tweaked out after smoking and was in the hospital for atleast a week, I don't know if he's still there (but he's till out of school). He may have psychological problems for the rest of his life, who knows. On the other hand he smoked a very large amount, and I've heard a lot about the weed being laced.
 
my good friend just recently fell mentally ill, and he started smoking every day multiple times a couple years ago. mental illness certainly isn't that common, but smoking weed does slightly increase your chances of coming down with some form of it. its one of the only real adverse health effects of weed thats been found.
 
If you have a pre conceived prevelance to skitzophrenia in your family then the hereditory gene can be unlocked.

if he had a family history of schizophrenia then how do you know it was the weed that made him schizophrenic, most people with schizophrenia start to experience the symptoms of schizophrenia about the same time that most people start smoking weed, so how do you know that it is the weed that did it, not just the natural course of schizophrenia, noone knows the truth to this question because you can make any study seem like weed is the cause when it really could just be the natural course of schizophrenia, that is my point here, noone really knows the right answer to this question, it is just like global warming, something that can be supposedly proven both ways that we really do not know the answer to
 
Suzuki may have a tendency to exaggerate (read 'sacred balance') but he would never spew total BS.

we have a feeling that my brothers bi-polar and manic episodes stem from his weed use. he used weed as an escape to deal with our moms death, which i don't believe he has fully dealt with. he had a break down about mom with his girlfriend last week and our mom died in 07...i used to smoke, but i don't mess around with it anymore.
 
From what I've seen of the data, it's legit. The fact that marijuana may be linked to schizophrenia has been well-documented through the years, as well--and by refutable universities at that.
 
Marijuana is also linked to an increase risk of testicular cancer, which is an extremely aggressive form of cancer.

That right there is a good enough reason not to smoke, among others.
 
not true, weed will not cause you to contract schizophrenia, however if you already have schizophrenia in your genetics and it is dormant, drugs such as LSD or weed can cause it to take effect. Basically you are fine unless you are already fucked.

If you are already a schizo, weed can seriously fuck with you.
I took that malaria medicine that makes even normal people go insane though and I was cool so I think I dodged that bullet.
