Webcam with requler camera

is there any way to hook up my regular digital camera to my computer to use as a webcam?

probably isnt a way, and even if there was i think the quality would be to high to use it over msn. what do i know though.

my video camera has it but i never was able to figure out how to use it.

If your camera has that function, you hook it up using the USB cable, and usually have to go into the menu directly on the camera and somehow put it in webcam mode.

its called USB streaming on mine I think.

on macs you can use any camera that connects via firewire. Its sweet using a real video camera because the quality is much better.

you can do it on any video camera that has fire wire i think, just basically turn it on and it should work. if not then it doenst work.

I have a Canon Powershot and do it:

I use PSremote to show the camera's viewfinder on my computer (where i can zoom and take pictures from my desktop)

and there's a program called Softcam that will stream a window on your screen as if it were a webcam.

I've used it with MSN with no problem except for finding cracked versions of the software

on a mac all you need is

firewire and ichat or mecury (pour msn)
