First of all im not supposed to know this so ill leave out details to not get in trouble.

so my dad is on ski patrol at a mountain nearby and its icyer than shit, the other day the cat literally slid off the run because its so icy. but back to my point. there were two kids today that snowboarded under the rope to get to a steep moguly ice run, they immediately took their boards off because it was too icy to board. they both slipped out and slid down the run. one of them slid into three different trees, one got out fine. the one that hit the trees was really messed up and he got careflighted out. he died on the way to the hospital.

his helmet was at the lodge because it was a sunny day and he didnt want to wear it.

please everyone wear your helmets, this is serious shit even if they were being not smart.

i always wear a helmet. they are not that uncomfortable and can save you

and im guessing the mountain was squaw

I wear my helmet all the time cause I've hit my head a few times with my helmet on and that hurt like a birch so I'm gunna keep that good ol helmet on

get one you bitch. you catch an edge, hit your head on the box/rail without a helmet. death or serious brain damage.

I took the extra pads and the little velcro strips holding them in out so it would fit better. Now it slides around on my head and it's a bitch to wear, and I don't wear it anymore. SOMEONE, give me a tip as to how to make it fit better? I don't feel right without a helmet on. I'm trying to find velcro tape at local shops

I refuse to ski without my helmet. Way too many people get fucked up/die from not wearing them and it's totally not worth it. My helmet has saved me soooo many times.

The only time I don't wear a helmet is when I'm skiing groomers. Other than that, its a helmet all the time.

i have the same problem, i just got a really thick hat to wear under neath it, and just pull the strap tighter underneath my chin

the only time i dont wear one is occasionally when i'm teaching. if i am not gonna leave the easiest chair and im with a kid so i can't be screwing around, i might leave it in the lodge until i get off

go to michaels (there is one near canadian tire on main street), they have the Velcro stuff with the adhesive on the other side and they also have a TON of different types of foam.

they only times i ever have skis on my feet and no helmet on my head is when i wear skis in my house in the fall and when i hit my backyard box setup

thanks thanks thanks sean

it's not the size that's an issue- it's the fact that it slides around on my head

i wear my helmet no matter what. its just kinda hard to find beanies that dont give you that shitty itchy hair feeling

Yeah my helmet is over my hat and goggles but it's comfy and easy to make fit. Theres no excuse for not wearing a helmet ever. And it was at Mt. Rose 15 mins out of reno,nv

a guy i knew saw a snowboarder land on his head on a jump and have seziures and die at the bottom of the jump... thats why i wear one

even if you "dont need one" or "dont care" you should still wear one to set a good example to younger kids... they will admire you if you can ski and try to act lik you

set a good example

I def. need to buy one, I always use my buddies bern when we go out and it doesnt even make you that uncomfortable. Super sad to hear about that kid, +vibes to his fam and friends

Very sad, it's unfortunate stuff like this happens.

Though rip on me as you will, I've been skiing for 15 years now and never worn a helmet.

people wear helmets because its more comfortable.

if you get in a serious crash without a helmet you will probably die.

with a helmet, you face minor injury but not death

I didn't read the posts, but look at the news story on the front page. Danny is a chill guy. I used to hang out with him occasionally at the local shop. Helmets are where it's at kiddos

i'll def be sure to wear a helmet the next time i poach an icy mogul run and take my snowboard off because it's too icy kthxbai

Wear a beanie underneath if it fits too big, and if thats too tight, wear a bandana (pirate style) under your helmet or something less thick than a beanie.

i dont know about u guys, but i have religously worn my helmet for the last 12 or so years skiing, i have been racing so its like no helmet, you go home... you dont forget your helmet...
so now i quit racing but im still wearing a helmet, when i take it off i feel uncomfortable and naked. having it on feels better for me, and is also warmer (i wear my hat underneath... but make sure there is no gap)
so yeah, my 2 cents.
the more u wear it, the better it is.
