Wear pattern on edges

Skied my on3ps for the third time today and notice an edge crack already and a wavy wear pattern on the edges? Not sure why the edges are wearing down like this. Is it a technique thing? Especially since they’re so new. None of my skis have previously worn down like this tho. It’s also worth noting my local has kinda shitty rails so I’m wondering if that plays a factor in this too

ever rub two sticks together and notice how they both degrade? same thing applies for sliding metal on metal, typically the smaller "rubber" wears quicker. I find the effect to be rather neat

This is why I go sometimes overly aggro with the file at a 45 degree angle on park skis. Unfortunately it’s part of the game and will happen with any ski, edge cracks are by chance by there are ways to reduce it but it can happen after any slide.

i had some the same issues, my ski shop could fix the crack with some type of glue, but the wear down on the edges is normal, at least on my skis is the same, but i feel i slide rails better with that type of wear down, the same as shoes they wear better after your break them in idk the crack probably comes from a big hit and there was just to much pressure to handle for the edges.

Looks like wear from less than ideal rails tbh. Some are just rougher if not properly maintained. Especially the thinner rails. This is from that. Just going to have to touch them up as you go.

Kind of less related but do edge cracks happen more with flexy skis like vishnus and on3ps because I been skiing revolt 86 hard and never get edge cracks

it's all about luck tbh. sometimes a ski lasts sometime not, it's hard to guarantee with quality. when you are hitting rails this is also destined to happen, especially if your local have some shittier rails. the metal wearing down like that looks brutal for park rails, only had that happen from hitting rocks or street spots.

my designated street ski is a perfect example of a ski that won't die. i have skied them two seasons in park, and have hit countless street spots with them the past 3 seasons. edges got their first crack this season, edge is fully worn down but still almost intact.

I just do everything I can to put off the inevitable destruction of my edges n sidewalls. Rotate skis (swap the ones on left and right foot) every other day I ride or so, full detune when you get em, try to slide stuff unnatty, etc. But ya eventually they just get fucked. 3 days is way too short of a lifespan tho

Take a file bro and just round the edge crack, should make it lower than the base and hopefully will prevent the ski from pulling the crack apart more

Real shit I am starting to think hitting rails was a conspiracy by ski manufacturers to unload way more product. Instead of a pair of skis lasting 10 years or more I usually count myself lucky if a pair lasts the whole season. Do I care, or will this make me stop riding steel? Absolutely not. But I'm onto you corporate scum
