Weak ankles?

Does anyone else find they injure their ankles really easily? I have twisted mine in some way multiple times a season for the last few seasons. A few times skiing into submerged rocks/stumps, once on the deck of a pipe, slamming the tip of my ski into GS gates, and today over rotating, losing a ski and jamming my boot into the landing as I slid.

I'm sick of it, even when it's pretty minor (I can still walk/ski on mine today, just sore), going to try and do some ankle exercises, like standing on a step and lifting myself up and down to get them strong, anyone got any others?

My boots are stiff, fit me well and are done up properly, I run a fairly high DIN (11-13), which may have influenced some of the injuries, but today I think if my ski had stayed on I would have been fine.

Get some physical therapy rubber bands man. I've been skiing on a partially torn ligament in my right ankle for two seasons thanks to them. Before I tore it I had the same shit though, I would roll mine constantly when I wasn't skiing and tweak them all the time skiing.

Torn ligaments in left ankle here as well, makes skateboarding hell but with ski boots they don't move around too much, especially if you get a slim ankle brace from a physiotherapist that helps keep it "locked" during activities.

You said you have well fitting boots, but do you have good footbeds in them? These will provide the proper foundation for your foot and ankle, relieving tons of stress that would otherwise be put directly on your ankle. If you don't have them, you should really pick up a nice pair.

why the hell is your din at 11? are you like 7 feet tall 300 pounds and only ski wind blown alaska snow that requires a heli to get to it?

Cheers for the advice guys, I will try and get some of those PT rubber bands.

Yes I have footbeds, custom made from a reputable shop, been tweaked a few times, seem to be ok.

My DIN is high because that's what I have found works, on a chart I come out at 10 (type 3+, 85kgs, 6'2", 314mm) and I have gradually put them up after some prereleases, I was hesitant to put them on 13 (only on one pair), but seriously they still come off sometimes, and yes my forward pressure is set correctly too. Like I said, if my ski hadn't have come off yesterday, nothing would have got injured.
