Hey I was thinking. Biking looks pretty cool for a summer sport but is buying a 2500$ bike worth it? I've been downhill mtb twice and loved it. My one friend lives next to the park up north so he bought a bike and is very impressive and he invited me up and first day he taught me how to do 25ft table tops and he said I was a natural. The only problem is finding a place to ride around where I live if I can't would it be worth it?

Ps it's midnight and I'm in the back of a 12 passenger van haven't slept forever so this probably makes no sense.

it is really worth it if u like mtb my dad helped me build up a decent trail/xc bike and i had tons of fun then i bought the bike i have now used off of pinkbike for only like 800 bucks its a trek session from 2011. so if ur thinking about getting serious go on like facebook marketplace or pinkbike and find like a mid travel trailbike with at least 130 mm travel in the rear for like 1500 bucks and have fun and if ur having trouble finding spots just ride around and ask locals also trailbuilding helps because lots of people will tell u about secret trails or different places u never know about also its hella fun and it helps ur riding improve knowing how a trail flows

Simple answer is if you enjoyed riding its totally worth it. rent bikes like 7 times and you're spending the same cash anyway. But yea, peep official mtb forum and there are always used bikes on pinkbike.
