Didn't snowbowl in AZ hit 300 lastyear

snowbowl/mcp use an algorithm for their tickets so the more people with tickets that day, the higher the price. so basically those days they are full as fuck and only want you there if you’re gonna pay out the ass for it. its the most supply and demand strategy ive ever seen lol

Is it more of an algo than any other resorts?

yeah like the person in front of you in line could get a slightly cheaper ticket than you. its dynamic and based on volume whereas most resorts are set prices doing peak season and non-peak season pricing.

edit: shoulda just sent this lol

Purgatory, same owners, sent out an email this year stating that they’re using it now.

i would have guessed that all of mcp had been doing it already but some are really tiny resorts.

How tf are your lift tickets so expensive in America? They could never do this here

they want guaranteed money. they want you to buy a season pass. It is so much easier to budget when you know the cash flow coming in. season passes mean good or bad snow year, the resorts are making money. this is critical when we see years like last where our east coast resorts got no snow and our west coast had too much snow to even operate. day ticket sales were way down due to this yet overall revenue was pretty on par to expectations due to pass sales. *speaking towards multi-resort companies like VR, alterra, powdr, boyne, etc.*

best way to get that guaranteed season pass money is to spike up the day ticket price so that it makes no sense to do anything other than buy a season pass. plus then there are stacked discounts for pass holders on lodging, retail/rental, ski school, activities, etc. so then people are more likely to use their pass at a company owned auxiliary lines of business as well.

Ah i see how much does a season pass cost? I still dont think they would be able to do that here in Sweden because were cheap and nobody would go but we also have it so its worth getting a season pass if youre going to ski more than like 10 times

For the season? Then its not so bad thats cheaper than Åre season card. But then if you only ski 3 days its wort getting if the day pass is 300 ? thats crazy

They have an army of brownshirts who think they are special because they buy the season pass and justify the extortionate prices for that reason. Eheath usually comes into these threads and calls highschoolers who don't have mega passes idiots if they question day ticket rates.

Of course some folks might want to visit a hill not on their pass, ski with friends on another pass, don't like skiing much and are good with 1 day per year or any other number of reasons.

My mountain this winter wants 600 extra from me for Ikon Base on top of the unlimited no blackouts but it won't work at anywhere good and is heavily blacked out itself. This shit sucks and is awful.

baseless call out, eat my ass gaper, if you're under 23 you get cheap season passes, i've literally never said that.

You are so out of pocket, i didnt realize i was living rent free.
