im looking for ideas on ways that websites could be able to enforce age restrictions on websites like facebook and twitter and shit like that for a project for school

think outside the box, and yes i realize half of the kids on here are underage haha but im just lookin for possible ideas...

yeah, its called a filter. Admins can punch in a password to get full access and others can be restricted.

cheez, do you go to school? or have a job?

OpenId
Turn it into something requiring verification that needs to be applied for.
Then make sites accessable via OpenId or general registration, but those registered with OpenId can access age appropriate content.
But you still need a method of figuring out age with out breaking any privacy laws.

Iris scanning, every time a person goes to the doctor, police station, etc they get they Iris scanned and info attached, all newborns are scanned before they leave the hospital. All computers either have integrated Iris scanners or retro-fitted with a USB one. Websites can know how old you really are.

idk if this is what youre looking for, but you could have people enter their license number (LIC#) and state. that way it would keep younger kids off and older people out, potentially.
personally i wouldnt want to intrust this type of information to an online source, but it seems like a possible approach

well the only surefire way to enforce age restrictions would be a state (state as in country, not US states) ID card, which is something that most people in the US wouldn't go for.

haha right cause admins on facebook wanna go through the millions of users and pick and choose who to restrict... cause that makes sense

someone got NS on their mind??

haha if its such common sense and you're so intelligent why don't you shed some light on this issue buddy??
