Waxing skis

Waxing and not scraping might help preserve the bases. I suggest hitting backyard, summer jibs w/rock skis if you have them. Don't mess up your normal gear.

i think it'll be better then dry bases but i don't think its worth the trouble....just get an old pair of skis,you don't even really need twintips...

Warm weather wax will help with speed issues. It also will protect your bases, but it's not really your bases that are going to get screwed up from jibing a summer set up. Like others have said; rock skis and wax them if speed is a problem.

i would do like the others have said then and wax those.

Keep an eye out for Skis at garage sales or even craigslist and you might me able to pick up a dirt cheap pair of rock skis to use on your jib.

Happy jibbing :: ))

i got myself a used pair of salomons, probably from late 80s or something, they measured about 2m and hat little to no sidecut, i paid 1$ for the pair and 3$ for the sticks, then i cut off a part of the tail, so now theyre about 170 and i redrilled the bindings...theyre a great jibbing ski now and i dont have to look after them at all... +i completely grinded out the edges and now im planning on trying to get a rear tip, maybe use a blowtorch, patience and a vise and i'll be able to bend them up... (its a foam core)
so definatelt keep your eyes out for a dirty old pair, you'll be happy with em !

It actually helps prevent most scratches, because all those grooves and pores are filled in so the base gets a little tougher. So yes wax them, u also only need to do it once, don't waste your wax on multiple layers for your backyard setup

or on here in the buy/sell forum.

i see skis that would be perfect at salvation army type places all the time with bindings. even if the bindings aren't sized up right, this is a good way for you to learn how to do that stuff yourself anyway. all you need is a powerdrill and some masking tape.

even though you won't look as badass, it will save your good skis for the snow months.

if you really want twin tips and you can't find a rock pair, you can also bend your own ghetto twins like we did when the 1080's came out and we couldn't afford new skis.

there are a lot of threads on here (or at least there used to be) about how to mount your own bindings, bend your own twin tips, etc..., try the searchbar if you decide to go that route (i'm not being a dick, that is just a good resource for this stuff)

good luck.
