Waxing Before First Use

So i have new Elizabeths and i was just wondering if its good to wax them before their first use. I searchbarred, couldnt find anything.

i just got my anthems in the mail, and it looks like they came pre-waxed from the factory.

i think factory wax is shit. i wax mine when i get knew mostly just for fun cuz i like waxin skis but i think most people will tell you to put your own wax on

My invaders dont hold wax worth shit, but they came factory waxed, so i rode them once or twice, then i waxed. if i dont wax them like every 3-4 times they stick so bad. if you go ahead and wax them, then i would try to take some of the factory wax of first, but make sure you dont harm the base. you might just want to put the iron to the ski and see what is on there. that might be a bad idea, i dont know.

do a hot wax when you first get your skis to get all the cruddy factory shit outta there and then after that you start builing your wax base back up. after the 1 hot wax do atleast 2 regular waxes. i try and do 4 when i get a brand new pair of skis, but thats just me. i have heard or people doing it up to 12 times. its all personal opinion.

maybe it's because i used to race, but i always try to have a new pair of skis stoneground before i ski them. factory stonegrinds=bullshit (except for some of the indies), so have a tech do it then take em home, get your edges how you like them, throw 2-3 coats of wax going from softer to hard if you can and then scrape/brush. i know it's a bit of work but they'll ski better and hold up longer (getting a couple coats is actually super important, it will really protect from baseburn and you'll go superfast).

factory wax is junk. it's really there to keep your bases "moist" and protected. I always wax a new pair of skis before I ride.

they should have some factory wax on them when you bought them but a little extra never hurts. will help the base last longer aswell
