waterproofness

i think it means how much area is covered with the waterproofing stuff. if you want waterproof stuff, then try and get something wtih taped seams.

ya im tryign but does anyone know where you can buy H/h online besides their site because they are sold out of everything on there

yeah 2,000mm isnt water proof. thats water resistant. A good water proof breathable coat or pant will be at around 10,000mm for waterproofing and around the same for breathability. if you have a pant that is like 15,000mm waterproof and only 2000mm breathable your still going to get wet. and i thing that the mm rating is the amount of pressure it takes for water to soak through the product.

oh yeah, and to be officially waterproof the pants/jacket have to have taped seams. But then again, just because something has taped seams doesnt mean the fabric itself is h2o proof. and just make sure that whatever you get that its actually breathable because if its not you will own a one man suana.

ya i think 15 is good, 30 is just over kill youre not going to be able to let your sweat evaporate then you will just get wet from teh inside.

But does anyone know ANYWHERE online that sells helly hansen

2,000mm is NOT how much area of your jacket is waterproofed! 2,000mm is actually a rating they use after they test a section of material using a water column test. They keep adding water until some leaks through the material, and 2,000 is the amount of water that the material can handle, so yes, a jacket thats 15000mm IS much better. I think the mm is millimeters, so the water column would be 2000mms tall by the time the water leaks through. is this making sense?

^ Yeah, she has it right. The other thing to consider is how the seam-sealing. Some companies put a half-decent laminate in for the watercolumn measure, but cheap out on the seam sealing. The fabric is waterproofed before the garment is put together, so once it is there are thousands of needle holes where it was stiched. Look for 100% of seams being sealed, not just major seams. You can ususally tell by turning it inside out and looking around at it. Good waterproofing + no seam seal = you standing around in the rain wearing cheeze cloth.

my oakley lab coat is water proof in the body part but not the sleeves. I highly recomend nik wax waterproofing, I put it on and it made my jacket completely waterproof

my HH are 25 000mm Best ever pants !! they cost a sit load but they are tough and water proof as fuck. Never have my legs gotten wet
