I got a 5000 mm waterproof jacket and it works fine for riding but we got dumped at work one day and everything soaks through now. What's up with that, like you screw your gear just once and it's a goner? Are there any good waterproofing treatments? (i have no cash to buy two jackets in one season) I heard some stuff on how some actually make it worse

 
try dupont DWR. its a waterproofing fabric treatment that the sell and use on otdoor gear :)... failing that...regular scotchgaurd helps

tori, you're in Vancouver right? the shops I can think of that would most likely carry decent waterproofing sprays are:

1. Taiga Works

2. Mountain Equipment Co-op

4. Eco Outdoor Sports

5. Coast Mountain Sports (maybe)

6. Snow Covers (maybe)

just get your white pages and phone around and ask 'em if they carry any good waterproofing sprays

i highly advise you to wash the jacket first with the proper stuff, the apply the treatment. this is depending on how dirty the jacket it. you don't what to seal any grim into the fabric.
