Waterproof dslr for shooting in snow/rain

I'd like to be able to film when it's raining or snowing hard without getting the camera soaked. Are there any tips you guys have for keeping the camera dry?
 
well if you get a 7D you wont have to worry much. although wrapping a bag around your current camera is much more ideal. if you use the searchbar you will find many threads on this topic already.

 
Panasonics GH series are actually splash/dust proof. But if you don't have $$$ to spend on a new body, just wrap it in a plastic/grocery bag and tape around the edge of the lens so water doesn't get in.
 
I shoot 7D Mark II, I love it. Canon markets in as weather sealed, and it has done just fine for me thus far. It's been rained on, dropped in the snow, and sprayed by snow.
 
That doesn't really answer your question unless you're in the shop for a new body. I typically just do a variation of ziploc/grocery bag with rubber bands.
 
But on a related note: How is the weather resistance on a t4i? Specifically, out in the snow, do I have to keep it absolutely dry? Or can it withstand some falling snow on the body?
 
I have a nikon d7100 which is weather proofed, so it is a bit splash proof and dust proof, but only to some extent. I used it in shanghai on a river cruise at high rain and everything was good, the only thing I had to cover was the lens.
 
Moisture management on your lens will become an issue far before your camera is in jeopardy. The best way to keep your camera safe is to cover it right up until you start shooting and then cover it up again right when you finish.

Any legit tips on moisture managment for the lens? Is it just bound to get wet on storm days or is there something to do other than a lens hood to attempt to keep it dry/the shot clear.

Depends where you live. In Colorado where the snow is dry I've never had a tough time when it's dumping and I need to shoot. In California I was shooting BC stuff and the snow melted right on the lens and it got soggy quick. I had to leave the cap any time I wasn't rolling and swabbed the lens with a microfiber cloth before and after a shot. Still was very moist. Lens hoods help.
