does bringing like your normal ski boots to water ramps like affect them badly or can i just bring them?

anyone that has gone it would be nice to get some input because i only have one pair

if you have afterbangs i heard that they can become waterlogged...so you might just wanna borrow somebodys or just rent a really cheap pair for the day

Depends how many days of ramping you're doing. My general rule is, dont ramp with anything you plan on using on snow again. Water will deteriorate your boots, makes the foam rip. And your boots will stink like swamp. I just bought shitty rental boots for 5 dollars for ramps, that way I could drill holes in them o drain faster. Your skis and bindings will also ruined.

so do you think i could just rent boots at the facility? and ik the ramp wears down the skis but idc because im just using them for park but what does the water do to bindings?

This is not necessarily true - about the bindings/skis anyways.Skis are completely sealed to the elements. As long as you have no core shot or rail missing, you shouldn't have a problem with water seeping into the core. Also would recommend re-gluing the mount holes just to give a fresh line of protection. That is really you're only vulnerable spot.
As for your bindings, the water should not hurt them. Snow gets deep in the crevices every time you take them to the slopes. But taking them swimming get's them more wet blah blah blah. True, but bindings are fairly simple. You have a spring, a bolt, a few metal pins, and then the rest of the housing that is not metal is composite. The internals are covered in a lithium grease. This will prevent rust from happening. As long as you are sure to thoroughly dry your bindings and even reapply a thin layer of lithium grease, I foresee no prolems arising.
If you are truly concerned, and for an extra line or protocol, I'd recommend having the retention and release checked at a shop after the ramp sesh. The only thing vulnerable on your set-up, in my opinion, is your boot liner. For that, I would use an old shitty pair.

so im thinking about going to a waterramp tomorrow too and i have a problem too, because i dont have extra gear for that and i'm planing on using my regular skis/boots/bindings for it.

will it damage my skis and my bindings??(i dont really care abozt the boots, i need new ones so thats okay)

any help would be appreciated, thanks and +k to answers

hey man I'm just speaking from experience...

Look at the way you land on water and from the force and flex on your skis. I've snapped 3 pairs of skis in one day before! I normally fiberglass my skis on the ramps so they last more than 3+ days on the ramps. Not to mention your skis often fly off and end up at the bottom of the pool/ lake (not sure if your water is clear or how deep) but there is a chance you'll never see those skis again.

As for binding, yes there is no structural damage, and you could re-use them again I guess. But submerging your bindings in water exposes them MUCH more than snow and will cause the springs to potentially rust and being dangerous to use in the winter.

one day on the ramps might be ok..... Make sure you tie ropes to your bindings and connect them to your boots. Like I said above, skis do snap on water ramps MUCH easier on water ramps due to the flex landing on water causes.

Oh I wasn't trying to start a confrontation, just pointing some stuff out.I've never water ramped before anyways, just sharing my logic. I'm sure you know more about it then I do.As for your skis snapping, that seems incredibly feasible. Usually though a bubbler breaks water tension so it wouldn't put them at as much risk.

thats a good point, when I snapped 3 skis in a day there was no bubbler. I only snapped one pair last season with a bubbler and that was after 10 days :)

Make sure you put tape on your helmet to cover your ears. I fucked up my eardrum at one point by smacking the side of my head on the water.

this. mouth guard, lifejacket, wetsuit, gloves for grabbing ( not necessary ), helmet, and some string if ur dins dont go higher then 12 ish

snap = zerbrechen

I would say you'll be OK for one day with the skis (as long as they don't snap) but your boots... at the very least I would pull the liners out and use some shitty rental liners. The shell itself should be OK with a day of soaking, there's not much to them really. Your booster strap might get a bit messed up though.

In my experience, I disagree with you. I ramped for a straight week with my everyday boots and my main pair of skis, and everything was completely fine for the ski season. Boots were still perfect condition. To the OP, you should be fine bringing your regular gear, every night just pull your liners and hang your boots upside down and they will be dry the next day.

if your really worried about it just buy some crappy old setup and only use it for watter ramping then when your done put them on here and advertise them as water ramp skis or look for some one who wants to by some in the WTB thred

dont bring skis you want to use on snow. from constantly smacking against the water pretty hard, you're going to destroy the flex pattern of the ski. also, i snapped a pair the second day there.
