In the market for a water purifier for when the family and I go camping. Not looking for a large pumping system but just a portable bottle or gravity unit. Looking for some recommendations, let me know what you are using.

Ive been using a sawyer micro. Its cheap, doesnt taste weird, really light and small. You can put it on a smart bottle too.

Idk if it would work for you and is not a gravity system but I use a uv purifier, its basically a wand with high power uv lights that you wave around in your water bottle for a few minutes it doesn't remove particles but in most mountain streams the water is basically clean enough to drink as is and the biggest worry is beaver fever. It's compact and light but really is for water that is already pretty clean.

Also you still get that mountain taste in your water

This is the model I have: https://www.katadyn.com/us/us/36833-ULT-MP-Ultra

if you're with your family get something that will easily filter 5+ liters. the gravity bags are pretty good, i've used a katadyn one before but i'm sure there are other brands. the sawyer filter is one of the best for backpacking, very compact, but is not the right filter if you only buy the squeeze bag with the filter, it will take so long to filter enough water for your whole family. i think there are setups for the sawyer that you can do a gravity system though and that fixes the issue. i wouldn't get a UV purifier or a hand-pump filter. not because they are not effective and safe, but because they work better as individual filters and might be a pain in the ass for a full family.
