Washington Initiative To Legalize Pot

How fitting, a couple of stoners late to the party. There was a thread posted last month about this.

By the way, I hope you guys are 21+ if you want to take advantage of this possible freedom.

oh yeah buddy a month ago? that makes sense considering the article i posted was written 2 days ago... I've known about this for a while and i read the old thread as well but this is a different article that actually names when the voting will take place.
so GTFO

Haha, such rage. Settle down before you hurt yourself, I was being sarcastic. Anything we can do to get people aware of this opportunity is a good thing.

yeeeaaah okay. Well anyway i jus read that and i was pretty stoked to see that the mayor supports legalization. But im suprised to see that they arent going after just decrimilization but going straight for legalization. But i guess its for getting money to the gov so taxing it makes sense. If we do it oregon and cali will immediatly follow. weesstt cooaassttt.

Actually there are two bills being presented. House Bill 1177 proposes decriminalization for personal consumption, no criminal charges, offenders given fines and that's about it. House Bill 2401 is what has people talking though. Full on legalization for those 21 and over. From other articles I've read, it sounds like they intend on having the liquor control board determining the way to package, organize, sell, etc. Obviously there are going to be a ton of issues that are going to be brought up against legalization but in the end I think its going to be the Washington tax payers being sick of tax increases and the possibility of an income tax. Lesser of the two evils being legalized pot hopefully.

ya i think one of the two should pass. id almost rather have decriminalization than legalization.
it will be regulated like alcohol it will be harder to get ahold of, and they will change it and alter it like tobacco i think.
but maybe not. just my two cents

oh yeah and anybody in washington 18 or over or will be 18 by november should vote for this.
I know im going to

I am skeptical of full blown legalization as well. But I would much rather have legalization over decriminalization, the tax benefits for our state alone make it worth while. I will find the link this evening, I have been posting from my phone at work, but based on what I have read so far there will be outside growers supplying the liquor control board. Basically buying legal bud would be as easy as going to the liquor store to buy a bottle of scotch. In, out, and on your way to a peaceful buzz.

As I mentioned above, I will post more useful information when I get to a computer that does not belong to my place of employment.

and how the fuck are you planning on voting?

its a house bill, the state legislature votes on it, not the citizens. To be heard you need to email your representative, which you don't have to be 18 to do.

I guess I will continue the thread whoring with more information as promised, its a slow day at work...

Read this if you want a line by line analysis of House Bill 2401 from the Cannabis Defense Coalition;

If you are in favor of this initiative then I highly suggest you read carefully. Minors, laws would still be in place to discourage underage usage just like alcohol.

doesnt matter. 18+ can still vote. id vote for it so when i be 21 to be legal.

obviously there is another bill to lower the fine to a 100 dollar traffic ticket if caught...

so its worth it
