Washington exchange student

I'm a 16 years old guy from norway named Erik. I'm most likely gonna live in Tacoma next school year as an exchange student. So tell me what its like to live/go to school/ski in WA!

Tacoma sucks. Go to Seattle. It's full of hipsters, but you're less likely to get shot.

During the winter we get shit on in the mountains, but it's often pretty wet. It rarely snows any significant amount in the lowlands.

If you want a solid all around mountain with good terrain and a good park, if neither is super huge, go to Stevens.

If you want to hit rails in the rain, go to Snoqualmie.

If you want to pay a ton to ride shitty rail park with rich assholes and sometimes get to take advantage of the terrain on a pow day, go to Crystal.

Baker is good for longer trips when it snows.

Locals around here are civil if you don't give off too many tourist vibes. Except Baker. Baker locals just hate everyone.

Thanks man! I really wish i could be in Seattle, but it looks like Tacoma is the only place avavible. Will I survive?

Yeah it's really not too bad. It has some nicer areas, but also some not so great areas. Just be smart about it.

As long as you're going to Stadium you'll be okay. Kinda far from skiing, but I used to live in Olympia, which is even further south.

I go to Stadium and live in Tacoma and its great!!! I love it here! Skiing Crystal is about an hour an half drive but totally worth it and so many kids from Stadium/other Tacoma schools ski you'll always have a ride.

and Tacoma really isn't that ghetto anymore, just stay away from hilltop at night and you'll be fine

plusTacoma was just voted one the gayest city in America! hahaha

Yeah norway vs tacoma, talk about getting the short end of the stick on that one. But you are probly going to end up at crystal or snoqualmie. Stevens is not even close to worth the drive from down there

I hit Stevens from Olympia most of the time last season. Crystal is fine if you don't care about ever skiing park, but if you want to do everything, you might as well just go to Stevens.

What is it that makes tacoma so bad? These (http://explorius.no/select_high_schools/skoler_skoledistrikt/) are the places/schools I can choose, and I thoght Washington/Tacoma was the best place according to skiing.

Smells like shit

Full of dirtbags

They shoot eachother (good thing)

They shoot non dirtbags (bad thing, usually)

The news took a poll of Tacoma residents' favorite breakfast, unanimous response was 40s and cigarettes

and lastly it smells like shit, and failed dreams~

You either want to live in Seattle city limits, or East of Seattle is the suburbs you can't go wrong plus you'll be closer to the mountains. Slightly north has areas that are okay but still don't go north of the city limits. But really I cannot stress this enough: Anywhere in the south end of Seattle or south of the city anywhere is a COMPLETE SHITHOLE with no redeeming qualities whatsoever you do not want to live there. There's such great areas to live in Washington just don't be a noob and fuck yourself by moving to the white trash ghetto when you don't have to.

I see this. White trash is the lowest type of human being, but the Tacoma school district seems like the only place avavible. I will definitely hear with the exchange organisation if there is any possible option to go further north!

I wouldnt call Tacoma "white trash ghetto". Like any place it has its not go good areas and then it has its awesome areas. Tacoma is a big city and if you can go to Stadium high school or Wilson HS you will for sure enjoy it! I live in North Tacoma, it's upper middle class and the people are very "outdoorsy", friendly and not white trash ghetto.

Yeah i know there are nice areas so maybe i was too harsh, but was just recommending areas for an exchange studen to consider

I think I pretty much can choose school myself, so Stadium will definitely be considerd. Will i find fellow skiers there?

Yeah! youll find a few, no hardcore parkratz or anything but theres a few guys that go up everyweekend and are not bad.
