Washing Outerwear?

I don't like washing my jacket and pants too much, I'd rather have my waterproof coat stay waterproof. What's the best way NS has found to get stains (rust, assorted dirt) out of outerwear? I've tried dish soap and hot water, no amount of scrubbing seems to work.

wash your jacket / pants inside out in the washing machine. Also dry cleaners do a good job but that cost $$

Manufacturers recommend this for several different reasons -some that protect some aspect of the garment, some that protect askepcts of OTHER garmetns in the wash-and some that do both.

i forget where i heard about rubbing in lemon to the rust/ rail stains then letting it dry or something then possible rubbing out with a damp cloth( unsure of that last part)
but you should maybe look it up that way you arnt putting your entire jacket/pants through the wash

I hear you've never actually used the searchbar. If you had, you'd realize that it's the worst.

I'll look up that lemon trick.

yeah your right that thing fucking blows, but i made this thread like last week, i've never had any problems putting my stuff in the wash and then on a low dry cycle, works really good but definitely no bleach

Definitely go get some nikwax. If you use normal washing machine soap it will clog all the pores making the coat totally unbreathable and actually less waterproof. you should definitely use this stuff because when you used dish soap you probably clogged some of the pores. Also they have a few different versions (not just the tech wash) depending on what you need. Its not that expensive (i think its like $10), not complicated to use, and its for sure the right thing. Go get some! it worked great for me.
