Warren Miller Has Passed Away At 93

RIP. The guy pretty much invented the yearly ski film, so much respect for one of the most influential people to ever slide on skis. He should be the ns cover photo for the next week
 
WM films totally changed the ebtire course of my life, shifting my ever changing attention to one thing and one thing only, skiing. I've gone to see every one of his movies for the past 20 years (first one I saw was "FREERIDERS" circa '98), and later watched all the ones before that. Seems like it may have been a million different movies. they acted as a preseason ritual to fuel the stoke and meet up with friends from the mountains. When i was younger I dreamed of being in one of his films, I could even actually hear him saying my name, then he would say something clever. I guess if I dont do it this year, I'll be one year older when I do.

The impact Warren had on the industry, and the minds of aspiring skiers everywhere is incredible. I remember watching Warren Miller movies every weekend during the winter. A lot of throwbacks and classics like fifty, Escape to Ski, and Storm on VHS were staples. Hanging out next to the fire watching Zudnick the ski dog shred some pow or the Dummy Downhill and sending huck dolls down the stairs just like in the movie, and being stoked to ski the next morning was my childhood. Or going to the Children of Winter premier for my tenth birthday and having Chris Anthony give us employee tickets because the show was sold out. Not everyone agrees with the direction WME has taken since Warren stepped away, but there is no denying the impact left on the ski community and beyond, RIP to the legend.

I actually said what the fuck out loud when I read the article title on the front page.

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving might not be your thing. I think that was my highschool yearbook quote. RIP.
 
I havent been on NS in years but i still work in a shop as a ski tech and one of my coworkers told me this today and i was shocked. dudes a legend and did more than we even know for skiing in general. Im currently watching refresh and his narration/thinking about the old lawsuit with level 1 and WME back in the day brings back some good memories, im honestly surprised there arent more people talking about this on here but it looks like not too many people are using this site actively anymore.
 
First ski film I ever watched was Warren Miller's storm. I watched it so many times as a kid im sure my parents regretted buying it. Sad news. Rip
