In light of early this Northern Hemisphere season the issue over Warren Miller Entertainment in conflict with Level 1 Productions over the use of Warren Miller's likeness,

Is it still an issue against Level 1? Is it possible for Australian NS'ers to promote the plight of Level 1 earlier this season and support them (or otherwise boycott the WME tour of Australia).

It would be good to get a consensus or general view of what others here think...

 
yeh i donno. i havnt been to a miller film since off the grid. not that much of a fan. we need a if3 type of even where tehy show pbp, level 1, msp and tgr in one evening. would be sick
 
yea there are a few film showings around the place leading into the Northern Hemi season in October or so (esp. snowboard films) . Saw EDIAS in Melbourne this year organised by that Snow Fox Crew (plus in the past I know there have been MSP showings at Falls Creek and other resorts etc..), would be awes if there was support for a bigger event to have a sorta mini IF3 in Australis which could also showcase talented film makers and riders here.

The thing with WME in Aus though is the marketing for that is sooo huge, u go to a premier and it's aimed at families and gapers which is a large part of the population which go to the snow as weekend warriors (having worked in a snow store as well it is easy to see that this is the case).

Same with the problems in the States I would assume that most of these ppl would never have heard of Level 1, or the problems they faced with the Warren Miller issue. They see the footage in a WME film taken from PBP and just think that it's crazy. and that is all.

It would be sneaky to just promote Level 1 at the premiers (while not buying an entry ticket, although boycotting won't really affect WME Aus because of the masses of tickets they sell anyway not to mention money generated from advertising)
 
yeh we have the warren miller posters n stuff in our shop. the only movie we got in syd besides warren miller last year was In Deep and russ was there.
 
An Australian IF3 would be sick, I'd back it for sure. Not sure aus has enough supporters though
 
loveyoursneakers made a good point to me regarding this on fb:

"This would be so hard to do, it's such a large entity you couldn't really boycott them in anyway. It's for the Gapers so leave it for the Gapers, I'm just not going to go this year and I hope you and many others in the community don't either."
 
I just really hope that no one on this site or who appreciates Level 1 for who they are and what they bring to our screens go's to this years Warren Miller event.

I helped my old uni ski club organise a "premier" of pbp Reasons last year. From memory we just paid pbp a few hunderd bucks and they sent us all movie, promotional material and a licence to "premier" their film. If you have somewhere cheap to show it I'm sure they'd help you organise something similar this year if you were keen.
 
Well said dude,

someone should get a job in the cinema and switch the reels over for a screening of REFRESH, and add a little trailer at the end about the whole fucked up court case with Warren Miller.
