War of Rails 2012

Footage from last year was so sick! Dope event, can't wait to see what goes down this year.

There weren't really jumps last year. People just hauled ass in and hucked their meat.

Still, sick!

this.

You can dress them up, but you can't take them out. No need to tell skiers they aren't allowed to throw a double cork 12 over a rail if that's what they want to do.

I'm on my iPod right now but look up war of rails and YouTube and it'll be the thudding result

not sure if I'd really call it a jump. I mean, I'm not an idiot - yes, it was a jump in all definitions of the word... but I think we can all agree that no one expected a dub 12 to be thrown. if someone throws a rodeo 7 over a rainbow rail, does that mean no more rainbow rails in rail jams either?

Shuttup kid the man who did the best rail tricks won just cause some people got in the air doesnt make it a big air retard.

To all the east coast kids that complained that this was 'jump contest with rails in the landing/takeoff', shut the fuck up. This was probably the most legit content of the year. No, they didn't have a flat rail for kids to spin onto, I realize you can't associate with it as a rail comp then. People were throwing more creative and fun to watch tricks than rails to riches, you're 'preeminent east coast rail comp.' Accept this.

Oh my god, Gus through a double 12 on a 35 foot jump. Who here hasn't tried to spin a 9 in the kiddie park? Grow up, we all fuck around and huck shit occasionally, he didn't win, get over it.

it's finally time to understand that no one gives a fuck about what east coast park skiers think. if you actually cared about skiing you would move to the west coast. but you don't, so you have no room to complain.

Craig Coker, keep doing what you're doing.

i loved the set up for war of rails.

Rails to riches was just 3 boring ass rails.

War of rails was such a sick competition glad it is happening again

i like rails to riches, but i agree war of rails is much better. the jumps add a lot of different options for hitting the course, like some of the huge channel gaps and taps

Everybody needs to shut up about the doubles. I was right behind Matt Walker when he gave Gus the deduction. This comp is judged the right way, and the right people won it last year for that reason. But the crowd ate up the Dub so it still got people amped up. Gus always tries to go big on anything, so if he knows that he will get deducted and still hucks a dub, then who cares.

yea boooyyyee!

I just hope you guys build another wall ride to flat! that shit was insane and probably my favorite comp feature from last year. I big ass burly close out would be sick. I also think a banked dance floor into like a downrail/box feature would be crazy.

Whatever the setup, I'm sure it'll be filthy and creative. Props Craig! Hope the weather and everything is prime.

You guys need to chill... There were 5 different sections at the rail jam: the dfd rail into the down rail, the tree post, the jump, the up rails/ flat down rail, and the wall ride. Each feature had it's own judge and so every competitor had to do their best tricks on each feature during the jam to make up your accumulative score. Not that it really matters because I did not end up winning or even podiuming anyway but it's not as if the only trick I did was the dub 12. I did a lot of other tricks on every feature and I feel like I had a pretty good combination of bigger/ more technical tricks and some mellow style tricks . I am pretty sure that Matt Walker was either the judge for the tap feature or the rail line, so he didn't mark me down for the dub 12 anyway. The rail jam set up this year is going to be dope, not sure if I'll be there or not but it's a super fun event and either way it'll be ill! Sorry for doing a dub last year, I was not the only one.

haha!!! newschoolers is so lame these days. why does every thread turn into arguments and negativity? cant people just say... "Sick! cant wait to see a picture of the setup" ...or something positive?

for the record - I like that you did the double cork. I'm always pro "do what you want". It'd be like saying "you're not allowed to do lip tricks and hand plants in a halfpipe competition". No need to put restrictions on stuff. How does the help the sport?

I wasn't trying to start anything with the Walker name drop. I just was right behind him and he started writing stuff down and made comments about the dub 12. So I assumed he was the judge for that line. And I am not trying to hate in any way, you kill it everywhere you go. But I think the more style focused guys take it at comps like this, where as your crazy ass tricks score better at other events. Mad Props to you for throwin down in any situation either way.

that's what i think about your post. WEST COAST FOR LYFE REPREZENT BROZ.

maybe you should be skiing powder and not worrying about rail jams...they don't sound like your thing.

Yeah I designed it. It came out just how I drew it out on paper. The reason why you haven't seen a drawing for this year is because I'm not done creating it. I'm going to make something that is very unique and nothing like any competition in the world. You think last year was good? I'm gonna make this years setup of all time.

I love this event since the level is so high and features are really scary! The level in this contest goes way beyond what you see in parks or other big contests!
