i am starting to have a passion for photography and have caugh tmyself rened out the SLR's from my campus this summer since I only own a 4x zoom panasonic digital camera from Costco.

I have a Diana F+ camera that is film and have trouble getting that to work properly but I am hoping to ask for a niiice camera for my Birthday/Christmas this year and need your help.

i have a connection with Nikon cameras so i PREFER to use that over Canon since i can save some $$ there. I was looking at the Nikon D90 or the Nikon 3000S (this will be a camera i will have forevvver and only save up to purchase better lenses, accessories, etc..) I also, however, would love to start taking some videos and making small edits (since i will be soon getting Adobe Master Suite + Final Cut Pro for my Mac) and i hav eonly heard good things about the Canon 7D. i know it's not a Nikon but if it is worth the $$ then I will look more into that. Do the D90 or 3000S by Nikon shoot video well?

just asking for some minor feedback from personal users of these products. thanks

If you want solid video, you won't be staying with nikon. As of right now, canon's HDDSLRs destory nikon's offerings. It sounds like you are in a position to pick between a t2i or 7D though. What's your budget?

well like i said im asking for it for birthday and/or christmas.

my grandmother is quite the photographer and has a deal with Nikon, however she likes to keep the $$ spent on us 3 grandkids fairly even. last year my cousin got a really nice camera ( i assume over $1,500) so i got a large check as a gift aside from my ipod touch and some clothes since that was all i asked for. so i'd say close to that would be my budget if i dont ask for $700 software of photoshop cs5 or any of that stuff which i will need for my upcoming work in College for Architecture...

the 7d is really nice camera i think just the body is around 1500 the

t2i is a

good camera if your starting out and its less than 1000 so you could

get a good lens a some extra stuff for around 1500 Nikon is coming out

with some new cameras pretty soon so you could wait till then and see

if they improve there video on the new ones
