So for the last two summers I've been able to work for ERA helicopters flight seeing at their Denali base.

This year I've been given permission to post and ask as many people as I want to apply to the position of ground crew for Denali and Juneau.

This is a ski bum dream job as the season goes may to the end of sept.

This also a great job if you have aspirations to get into the heli-ski industry.

Requirements:

1. Can't be a recent felon. If you have forged aircraft documents or have distributed meth of large quantities within in the last 6 months and been convicted your most likely not gonna get a interview. If you have some minor alcohol consumption or speeding tickets, don't worry unless its excessive (more than three).

2.Need to pass a drug test. This not your regular drug test. This a FAA drug test. The last two d-test I took I was required to strip to my underwear and socks, wear a gown and then they patted down my socks. Then I took a piss in a cup. I personally don't smoke weed more than once a month, so it's not a concern for me. If you smoke more than I do I would buy a piss test to see or get really good at hiding stuff.

Bases:

Juneau: it's a much bigger base with about 6-9 helicopters. They offer glacier landings and dog mushing tours. Everyone has there own job and does it individually. Loaders load copters. Drivers drive people. Dispatchers dispatch people. Lots of people and lots of work.

No housing options and Juneau ain't super cheap. If you want get into heli busniess it's a great way to start.

Denali: Small base. 3 helis max. Ground crew does everything but fix copters and fly them. Everything. We all live on site (meaning on days off you get woken up at 8 unless your heavy sleeper.) you do get some good benefits that make it worth while. 5 on 2 off schedule. We are right across from Denali national park entrance where lots is going on.

This just a notice to get people's attention. My boss has been complaining that they don't have enough people to choose from for work. If you want more information just PM me.

If your a competent human being with a background in anything related to guest services, consider to apply. You Don't need previous aircraft experience. Just need common sense and a willing to learn new things. Here's the site to apply.

Can kids straight out of high school apply? I live in Fairbanks but I'll be graduating this year, I am incredibly familiar with the area though, go there about 5-10 times a summer, and I've hunted and backpacked all over the area right behind the headquarters between mt fellows and sugarloaf.

Your a Local Alaskan who already knows the area well. You already have a big edge on everyone applying. You do have to be 18 though.

FYI for people, Denali crew is picked and people being interviewed. Heard Juneau still has some openings though.

Maybe I missed it when reading but what exactly is the job? Talks a lot about not being a felon, not dong drugs, and where the spots are but not much about what the job entails. Just curious

So in the Denali base the ground crew does everything but fly or fix helicopters. Fuel checks, launching, landings, picking up folks, flightfollowing, groundskeeping, literly everything that has to do with running a flight seeing helicopter base.

The Juneau base everyone has one job. Drivers drive people to and from hotels. Ground crew there will only launch, land and load helicopters. Dispatch will only work in the office.

I was kinda vague On the job part. For that I apologize.

It's all good. I was just curious. Thanks for the info!

Both crews for Denali and Juneau are filled for the season. My boss did say that we had a increase of applicants with skiing backgrounds. Thanks to anyone who applied.

To all the people who were just under 18 apply next year as well. There is always turnover.

Any newschoolers who want stop on by this summer to check out our Denali base (i work there) feel free to stop in and say hi. If your in that part of Alaska.

I've never been to to Juneau. I need to go there and check out the base and the town.

To be honest if your thinking about trying to get into aviation world get your pilot license this summer and do a lame side job. That way when you turn 18 you'll have a Pilot licenses plus solid chunk of flying time on your resume. There's lots of scholarship or youth aviation programs if your younger than 18. When you turn 18 your paying for alot of training and it aint cheap.
