Want rocker, want Fat, do I want reverse sidecut too?

Aight so I already have Anthems w/ Mojo 15's for park and groomers and whatnot

and Bacons w/Jesters for pow and all around just cause they are fun and versatile.

So I would like to get a fat rockered ski because I'm going to Western and I'll be skiing Baker this year mostly.

So the ski on the top of my list is the Donner Party, because it just looks ill, not in terms of graphics, but they are sick too.

Anyway I can probably get Bents, EP Pros, or ARG's, and possibly chopsticks at my shop for close to proform but I kind of want to try Moment as a company and cause they are really fat and look like they would slay powder.

I'm new to rockered skis and reverse sidecut skis so I'm not sure what to get.

So far my options are:

Donner Party

ARG's

Bents

EP's

Chopsticks

Anything else?

These skis will be used for powder only so I don't care if they suck on groomers. I'll probably mount them with Mojo 15's or Jesters, or maybe STH's. I dunno yet, it doesn't matte rtoo much though. I want to be able to ski open steep faces with them, but still have them reasonably soft in case I want to fuck around in the slackcountry ow whatever. Probably going to be using them on Booters and cliffs, nothing over 30 feet though....if that haha. They don't need to be great in trees I guess because my Bacons are good for that. I'll probably do a little bit of switch skiing with them to lean how to ski switch pow but

I'm not sure what one of these skis will compliment my quiver the best? I already have everything covered technically but I want to try a rockered ski and/or reverse sidecut.

I'm 5'9 150 lbs. and ski very aggressively, my boots are Full Tilt Konflicts, but I doubt that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance guys.

Praxis dumb dumb.

And I hate reverse sidecut skis but the one place in all of the ski areas I've skied that I could see myself using them is baker.

Thanks a lot for the links, I want new because I treat my skis very well and don't trust anyone but myself with them, and if they break or something happens I won't be able to afford another pair probably.

But +karma for the links, most people wouldn't go that far.

ok well let me know if you change your mind on the spats. I think he paid 200 for them plus maybe 20 for ship and I have never known him to charge more than he paid for when flipping skis. They're in this pic. I totally get the new the just putin it out there.

hey homie check out the volkl curo or kuro? idk how to spell it haha but they look pretty sick too... just a thought.

If you are going to be skiing steep open faces, I would shy away from EP Pros and Hellbents. Just too floppy. And, if you don't care about groomers at all, by all means you should look at reverse sidecut. I don't know about the Donner Party's stiffness, if its floppy as the EPs/Bents, you may want to throw them out and look at something else (maybe Comis?). The ARGs (and praxxis) and a great choice. The ARGs are stiff underfoot but have softer tips and tails, they also RULE in the trees. Seriously, you'll never want to use your bacons there anymore. Although, depending on your size, you may want to look at some other skis. The EHP (186 and 193) and Salomon Rocker immediately come to mind. Not completely reverse/reverse, but stiff and great for steep open faces.

By the way, just cause skis are uber fat doesn't neccessarily make them good. I hated Nordica Jah Loves (140mm).

Forgot about the Volkls. No experience on the Kuros or Chopsticks, but Volkl doesn't really made a bad ski, and most of them are decently stiff (if not more so). They could also fit the bill nicely. I have heard that their prices tags are out of this world though.

I'd say the K2 Obsethed if you didn't want reverse sidecut. Rockered tips but regular camber underfoot so you can still shred groomers pretty well. Just my 2 cents but for a full rockered, fat, reverse sidecut I'd say the Donner Party

I'm in the EXACT same boat.

I've skied Steven's forever, and this last season I had anthems. Now I'm going to Western and I need a super fatty ski.

EP pro is too soft for PNWs super heavy snow
the ARG/ Donner Party both are reverse side cut, and I'd say you don't want them for baker... the powder is everywhere, but you need to get back to the lift. I'd get sick of reverse sidecut, I imagine you would too.
the market has soo many fat pow skis this year with regular sidecut, I'd recommend any of these:

Hellbents
armada jj
bibby pro
rossi S7

any of those will kill it at baker, base your decision off of your height/ choice of flex pattern

I'm 6'3" 190 and I'm gettting bent's for this year. See you up at Baker!

Thanks for the advice so far guys.

I just don't want to have overlap with my new skis and my Bacons.

I'm not going to be skiing all open faces because I'll be at Baker, but I don't think I want a noodle.

And I don't think hellbents or EP's will be too soft even for our heavier snow around here, I see lots of kids ride them and they look like a blast. However I don't think I wan't EP's though just cause they are too flexy.

Hellbents are probably the most rockered right? As in highest tips and tails.

I did consider the prophet 130's as well just forgot to put them on my list.

So far I think my best bets are ARG's and Donner partys. I just don't want the Donner's to all sell out before I buy them.

get bibbys you will have the most fun with them, and they are the most versatile i would say. if you do want k2 obseths i have a pair with fks 185's ime selling for a good price pm me if your interested

EPs definitely arent too soft for PNW Pow, but if youre going to baker maybe you should actually consider a smaller ski you can mount with some AT bindings. Baker gets skied out fast and its good to have some extra mobility for the BC. So maybe something like the JJ? It would overlap with your bacons though 8/. From everything ive heard the big advantage in reverse sidecut is uber quick turning that pays off in the trees or in narrow chutes. For me, I love my EPs to death, absolutely my favorite ski ever, and Id say they are an uber good match for Baker terrain~

WHATT!@!@!

That is so fucking cheap. Do you know anything about the flex on them? It says medium soft on the website but I dunno what that compares to.

Damn that just seems like such a sick deal.

So the website says: "With a belt-busting waist–139mm–its rockered tip and tail–zero

camber–you’ll have no problem floating in the deep and switching any

landing."

So I wonder how rockered it is, anyone know?

This seems like a great ski for me (especially at that price cause I have to pay for college), how will it compare to reverse sidecut skis like the Donner Party and ARG? Will it just not be able to turn as tight in the trees? What will the advantages of this ski be over a reverse sidecut if any? Besides being slightly better on groomers.

Oh and thanks a ton for letting me know about that sick fucking deal, so they go on sale September 18th right?

I havent been able to ride my dps yet but i consider them the perfect completion of my quiver right now, had just the rocker and stiffness i was looking for and ive never heard a complaint about a ski with reverse sidecut, soooo stoked to get on mine, powder cant get here fast enough!

They sound very sick, do you know how they compare in stiffness to the ARG's?

If anyoen could give me a comparison to ARG's Donner Party's and then Mavens it would be great. I know nobody has ridden Mavens probably but I just want to have a comparison between the ARG's DP's and a very very vig ski without reverse sidecut, like pro's and cons.

ive skied the EPs at hood through pow and crud so i wouldnt say they're too flexy for pnw snow

Shit man we have the same icon.

Ya I've seen a lot of guys up here riding EP's and Bents and they seemed fine, but I don't think I want either. I'm between Donner's and Mavens like I said, but I'm going to the ski shop in an hour or so and I'm gonna see if I can buy ARG's at proform or around there, and if I can I'll buy them probably. Otherwise I dunno, I still want to know what reverse sidecut benefits are besides easy turning in pow and trees, and being bad on groomers.

I really dont think there is much more to reverse sidecut than that, its not like its this super advanced design that changes everything

There were some ARGs on Ebay, and I see them for sale relatively frequently. If I were you I might hold out and see if you cant pick a pair up for cheap~

i'd go reverse reverse, donner parties sound good, if you already have bacons then anything normal sidecut and fat will be overlap even if it's rockered, you'll just wanna ski the bacons instead, i'd get donner parties

Ya that makes sense, and I went to the shop today and can't get a good deal on anything but Bents and I don't want those that much.

So it's looking like Donner Party's unless something drastic changes.

Thanks guys.

Keep the responses coming if you have any though haha.

i have yet to ride them but im very very stoked to ride my arg's this season. got em brand new for 300$ so i couldnt resist. but like you i was going to get donner parties before i found this sick deal. since i've never flexed the DP i can't compare to the ARG's but mine i'd say have the perfect flex. they are a little stiffer in the waist but soften up throughout the tips and tails. not as much rocker as in the hellbents but i'd say its deffinatly enough slay any amount of pow anywhere you could imagine. from pictures of the DP the ARG's have a bit more rocker aswell. from talkin to several people teh reverse sidecut make them turn on a dime and slay tree's.
