Wallpaper --> $$ for photographers

NS, years ago there used to be a wallpaper section containing some damn good photographs in full resolution. Today, there's so many good photos being put out by our members, but most are lower resolution and just don't quite work for "today's" bigger displays.

So my idea is to have a section of the site where photographers can upload high quality pictures fit for your typical size displays. They can charge for these pictures maybe $1, $2, $3,? per download. Lets say they get 400 downloads, boom, $800 in the photographers pocket.

Maybe the details are difficult as far as payment goes, but maybe a direct link to the photographers paypal? idk.

Just a thought. I'd be willing to pay for something like this, but maybe I'm the minority.

You can just click on "View Full Size Image" and open the full image and download it from there. I know that all the picture I upload are the biggest version I have of it. But I know some people shrink the size down when uploading !

But the idea is still pretty nice I must say ;)

Wouldn't really need to download something. Unless the photographers compress the photos there would be many ways for one to grab the true resolution of the photo without downloading......and also your prices for downloading pictures are a bit high.

oh well, i guess i just get issues with opening full size. It's almost never full resolution.

Maybe an extension of the photographers program?

I usually compress my photos to 72dpi (which looks shitty on a monitor) and set a max width of 1500px or so when I upload online. That way the image can't be stolen/grabbed/what have you and used without my permission (for anything of importance at least. People still steal photos and post to tumblr without proper credit and I havent fixed that issue yet -____-)

Well apart from that....and lowering the resolution of the picture itself, I don't see how you could publish a photo without running the risk of some guy stealing it

Whenever you publish any sort of media, you run the risk of someone stealing it.

The original photographer will usually be the only person with the original RAW file, so if there was a dispute over a stolen photo it wouldn't be hard to prove ownership.
