Wallnutz wins Freeskier's skier of the year

Your post mentions walnuts, and the link brings me to a story about a man named Tom Wallisch.

I am thoroughly disappointed.
 
i agree that there are plenty of other skiers more deserving of this title. tom wallisch is a hell of a skier, don't get me wrong. he takes slopestyle and urban to a whole new level, he's got tons of style, and he's obviously crazy popular, but i think there are skiers out there who do a lot more for the sport.

You didn't even name someone who you thought would be more deserving. And I think Bobby shouldve won it.
 
wallisch upped the game for slopestyle skiers everywhere... very deserving of this title i think
 
I'll list a few since I didn't in my original post. For the past year (09-10), I'd say there are 4 skiiers who -- to me -- really accomplished a TON across many different disciplines of the sport.
(In no particular order)
-Wallisch-Sammy C-Bobby Brown (undeniably)-Sean Petit (barely, but his seg in Eye Trip keeps him in the top echelon for me)
Between the four (well, really 3) of them, I think they all could have rightfully won the title. I've always been a wallisch fan because of his ungodly clean style in park, so props to him.
 
So Greg Hill climbs and skis 2 million vertical feet in 2010 alone, and Tom Wallisch wins skier of the year?

he put out one hell of a segment with level 1. i dont understand how someone can feel so comfortable no matter what foot forward they put on rails or what way they spin on jumps. it does not make sense.
 
i was gonna say bobby brown and mention the triple. but not only did he triple, he dominated the xgames and brought new tricks to the game. i only didnt mention his name because everyone would start bitching about hit triple "whackflip"
 
... are you missing something here? what don't you understand? it's a contest about freeskiers, mostly park skiers, voted on by people who go on that site.. this isn't that confusing i don't think
 
yeaa.... sammmy deserved it. he had his own invitational and threw down the first switch triple. wallisch might have won skier of the year according to freeskier but theres no doubt that sammy held it down for 2010

I mean like always Tom gets the popularity vote but every ski above has pushed the sport in a new direction in terms of versatility as a skier and creativity. Sammy kills park and BC, was featured in multiple movies, threw a triple, and won comps. I mostly think he should have won over Tom.
 
Wallisch is a great skier,but aside from slopestyle and urban he is a non-starter. No pipe, no big burly lines and no back country makes for one hell of a lopsided 'skier of the year'.
 
except he rips pipe and has never had the chance to go ski burly lines because when you have a career in slope, you don't go skiing shit that could get you hurt especially if its irrelevant to slope. again, its voting for the favorite/most popular park skier, that's all. get over it.
 
your big mountain and bc argument is invalid as both bobby and sammy went and killed the bc this year
 
I want Berman to take Wallisch with him on a BC trip this year. I really think Tom could kill it. He's a super athletic guy whose really comfortable on a pair of skis. Could be wrong though i guess.

Super stoked Tom won it though. For a kid that started from basically nothing to get this big and good really is quite an accomplishment in and of itself. He's come a long way since his Superunknown video.

However, my vote still lies with Garret Russell, BOO YEAH! or Ager BABY! I wouldn't be able to decide between the two.

yeah but neither of them do urban to the amount wallisch does which takes up a LOT of time. when you got heli trips involved, that's also a LOT of time. you can't do everything.

Ya, i mean all Tom does is shot in parks and urban, While Sammy C does Park, Urban, BC, and AK and he doesn't win it fine, i am over it
