Looks like it's time to take this discussion out of the Season 2 thread and into a new one.

I'm stoked on the return of Merl and to see what is done with his character.

And of course this lovely lady...

I think it's going to be interesting to see more human vs human conflict but I seriously hope they keep the number of zombies per episode much higher than the second season. Just because the people are now fighting each other it doesn't mean that you can forget about the reason this show is so good to begin with...dead people!

Post discussion, pics, etc.

STOKED FOR OCTOBER

Season two dragged on the finding katie (if i remember the girls name correctly) way too much, it got boring. i wanna see some city action

I'd actually like to see some zombies killed, last season got really slow, which sucked because it has the potential to be such a great show.

Season 2 blew large butt holes, I have a raging gusta for season 3 though, the prison is gonna be siiiiiiick, littered with zombies who were ripped felons on death row, can't wait! Fuck all their shitty drama though it ruins the show

I still liked season 2. Sure there wasn't a ton of zombie killing, but I like that there is more to the show than just blood and guts. If you want that go watch some shitty horror film, not a tv show.

I read all of the comics up to issue 94 (link to an online database in the season 2 thread), and if the show is going to follow the story line of the comics (albeit loosely) it should be a great season. The chick with the zombies's name is michone, and judging by her presence in the comics she'll be a genuine badass

read the comicbooks! i love this series, and i cant wait to see what they have decided to do out from the original comicbook. i personally think (from what i have seen from the season trailer) that woodbury seems a lot more intresting, but im not so shure about the casting of the governor, but it remains to see.

the creators said that season 1 and 2 was just a "warmup" to the other season that is coming so i expect lots of action

No comic book talk in this thread, that's what ruined most of the season 2 thread. I will delete the shit.

Stoked for Merl and to see what happens with that.

So fucking stoked. Michonne is going to be a badass, thats fact. Hopefully the Governor is as dark in the show as he is in the comics. Watering him down for tv would definitely be a let down. and as i stated in the season 2 thread, I'm curious to see if and how Andrea and Michonne get reconnected with the main group.

Season 2 struggled for two main reasons:

1.) The show burned through its allotted budget

2.) The network dumped original developer/runner/producer/director Frank Darabont.

The budget issues meant that the plot ground to a halt at the farm as it was a cost saving measure to shoot on the one location with little effects (thus less zombies). That's also why certain characters seemingly disappeared for episodes at a time, simply because they couldn't afford to pay everyone.

With the show changing hands, you had the added problem of someone coming in and attempting to tie up plot threads and conflicts set in motion by someone with a very different idea about what makes the show appealing. That's not unlike a painter painting half of a painting, then having someone else finish it. Chances are, it's not going to work, especially if the painters have very different styles. I'm not saying getting rid of Darabont was right or wrong necessarily, but it does explain the inconsistency.

In my opinion, the second half of the season, after the hiatus, was actually really good and I think that bodes well for next season. Honestly, going into this next season, it might as well be a different show featuring the same characters.

And lastly, to those hoping for more zombies and less drama/human conflicts, well...this is a show about people (microcosms of civilization) responding to an apocalyptic event first, and a show about zombies second.

suposedly 16 episodes this season, should be good as long as they don't drag it out like last season,

that farm house was terrible plus now that (spolier alert in case you havnt watch season 2) dale and shane are dead rick will finally get some character development instead of having shane and dale be the metaphoric angel and devil on his shoulders. Glad rick got the sand outta his snatch too and just straight up said this is no longer a democracy at the end of season 2. that should make sure there is much less petty bullshit bickering. Season 2 was decent but was too reminiscent of a soap opera with an occasional zombie.

Let's hope it doesn't turn into Herschel's farm 2.0

Part of the excitement of the series is the suspense of traveling and finding new places...not stagnating in one spot.

Lol this, I don't understand when people think: "Get rid of all of the drama and character development all I want is zombie killing!" Go play left 4 dead or something, it wouldn't really be a show if it was just the action.

i get that its only a television show but does anyone feel like there is no possible escape out of the current situation. like now that theyve realized every person who dies gets turned into a zombie i think they are pretty much fucked and only have each other for survival and once theyre dead then the end of human population but of course somehow i know theyll find more humans and develop an antibody idk show is so far beyond anything real but then again we are discussing a zombie show haha

it's not that people want to get rid of all the drama, its just that there was soo little thrill/excitment factor in season two people were losing interest. I agree that the show shouldn't just be about slaying zombies, but there was more zombies killed and action in the 6 episodes of season 1 then there was in all of season 2. I know pilot vs budget season but still, the pilot season should be pretty close to portraying what the rest of the series is going to be like. So where people got that it's all about drama and how people emotionally deal with an apocalyse im not really sure.

I agree, more action but still keep the theme of human struggle and humanity. But I'm sure the director change had something to do with it. and the budget of being kept on the farm the whole season.

im so pumped for this season the trailer looked insane. I think there gunna up the action after the complaints from last year, plus the last episode was sick and definatly foreshadowed atleast a few episodes in the beginning of the season lots of action
