Wake Skis

I am wondering if anyone on here wake skis. I am thinking about getting some and dont know what length to get and if it is anything like snow skiing.

Nope. Water skis to wake skis are the equivalent of skis to ski blades.

Now I wouldn't say that...

But they are way different

I want to get some, I live on a lake and usually wakesurf erry day in the summer, but I wanna get some wake skis. Size idk. Def smaller than normal skis though

Moving to Florida next year and theres a cable park pretty close to where I'll be living. Does anyone know if you can rent wakeskis like you can snow skis? Because I've wakeboarded quite a bit in the past and really enjoy it but I really want to try wake skiing because it looks pretty damn fun too.

I've been looking for a place to rent/demo also. Really want to try them out, hopefully this summer.

Yea wake skis are awesome. I've used mine at a couple parks in florida. If you're going to focus on the sliders and jumps, you want to get the shorter pair of skis. Stereo Skis makes a couple different designs of wake skis. I know some other companies make them too, but these are probably are the best. I have boots for a new pair but can't seem to find a used set of skis..might have to buy a new shorter set.

Ya I've got a pair to fuck around on. I mostly barefoot, but they're fun to fuck around on every now and then. Major differences between stereo and Ho skis. Will post more when I'm not on mobile

Wake skis suck. Watch some edits and notice how they can't pop for shit off a wake, nor can they anything remotely gnarly.

jesus christ, get the fuck off of the "buy a wakeboard" kick. you all sound like every snowboarder ever that thinks they're sooo cool just because they ride a board instead of skis...even if they can't throw down for fuck all....

at any rate, to op....HO makes shorter skis than stereo and they're a complete tip to tail rocker which makes them feel a little squirrely. stereos have a tip and tail rocker, but are flat underfoot. that combined with being a little longer makes them feel/ski a little more stable. if you're a bigger dude, definitely rock the stereos....if you're not, the ho's would be ok, too.

and no, it's nothing like snow skiing....at all.

At 6' 1" and 195 lbs, I probably fall into the "bigger dude" group, but would it be harder for a small person to use the stereos? If I got a pair, I would probably share them with my little brothers, smallest is like 5'6" and 140 lbs. Either way I'd like to demo, but if I can't and I see a pair on sale I might go for it, so I was jw.

I mean, that's really hard to say as I don't know the skill levels of those involved. if all are advanced water skiers, you'll be able to rock out on either pair, but I think the bigger dude would be more inhibited by the smaller skis than the smaller dudes would be inhibited by the slightly larger skis.....kind of like in snow skiing.

Sorry for the lack of knowledge, but could you slide boxes and rails at a cable park on wake/water skis?

wake skis? yes, absolutely.

water skis? i suppose it's possible with the right set of skis and mad skills, but good luck and i hope you don't blow a knee or ankle (s). so basically, no.

But...wakeskis actually do suck. Especially behind a boat. No pop, spins are awkward and look like ass, riding switch is pretty much pointless, etc, etc...I realize you believe your opinion is worth more than mine, or anyone else's, because you're a "barefootin' fiend," but let's get real here.

you know nothing and it shows. no pop, ha.

Without turning this into a dick measuring contest...I have also had my fair share of experience behind the boat. I used to compete in wakeboarding and can more than hold my own on a single ski. I've also taken my fair share of barefoot runs (GASP!). Don't be so quick to assume things because you taught some 8 year olds at a waterski camp one summer. I demoed some Stereos and HOs from a local shop a few summers ago and got in plenty of hours with them. Wakeskiing sucks.

hey that's my line. but you're right..in the 5-7 days a week i'm on the water 5-7 months out of the year (depending on weather obviously) for the last 25ish years i've been competing, i haven't picked up a spec of knowledge.

It'll be interesting to see if these catch on. As a skier and a wakeboarder kinda feel like I've been on both sides of the fence. Waterskiing is more niche and (expensive) I don't think the hardcore water skiers will bite at this like winter skiing. They've been too far gone for too long.

On the other hand I find a lot of wake board friends hopping into the slalom skis for shits and giggles
