Waka flocka got some talent

Flocka isn't all adlibs and trap beats you know.

The guy can really spit when he wants to.

Here's another example:

And please don't tell me that Prodigy had a better verse than him on this track. We all know that Prodigy is a legend, and he originally killed this instrumental in the 90's, but his verse on this song along with most of his other work from the past almost 10 years has been nothing compared to his older work. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that there's more to Flocka than Hard In The Paint and all that jazz.

The reason this thread is such a complete and total fail is this.

EVERY FUCKING RAPPER DOES THIS

They add hype lyrics and background vocals after the main lyrics/rythem/sound are already recorded. Any time you hear a rapper yelling behind a track (which he and Gucci do a lot of) this is how it gets made. This doesn't show he is anymore or less of a talent. It just shows him adding screaming and yelling to a track that is almost done.

Here is the finished product of the video you posted:

In my opinion it still sucks, he rhymes ninja with ninja about 30 times, but what you posted is going to sound shitty no matter what rapper or singer recorded it. Don't judge a rapper on a single recording of their background grunts/sounds/yells.

This, also don't judge them on their first commercial single ever. That's another stupid thing people often do.

that's the point of releasing singles. so you can judge their album based on a couple of songs. when people put out shitty singles I'm hard pressed to check out their album

You also need to remember that during an artist's first little bit in the industry, they will have less creative control than somebody who has been around for a few years. I never said don't judge an artist on their singles, (I don't think you shouldn't really do that either, but whatever, that's your decision), I said that you shouldn't form an opinion on their first commercial single ever.

*Shouldn't form an opinion of the artist based off of their first commercial single ever. Man I just could not word that one properly.

but really waka sucks. He makes good music to get drunk to and act thug with your friends and to blast when white bitches are in your whip, but past that he just sucks cock. The reason an artist chooses a song to release and market as their first single is that they think it will draw more people to their albums and additional singles. If this is Waka's idea of a great song to attract new listeners, he should stick to grinding ski racks on shitty sedans. Or get an audi.

Refer to my first post in this thread. The guy has bars, just not all the time. Also, he occupies a niche in the industry that nobody else can fill. I enjoy most of his music, because he brings a specific energy that I have not found in any other artist's body of work. I'm not saying he's my favorite ever, but he isn't really deserving of all the hate that is directed towards him.

A lot of artists have less of a say than people think as to what material is released commercially, and sometimes they even have a label executive telling them what they can say on a beat, and even going as far as telling them what instrumentals to use or other forms of creative control. For example, Puff Daddy managed to turn this guy:

Into a guy that can make an entire album of this:

Why? Because Harlem World by Mase ended up selling 4 million copies in the US alone. I would have problem with believing that Waka Flocka was stuck in a similar, but not as extreme, situation with Warner Bros. Records.

I don't know what I find more retarded...this rapper, or the moron poster above me writing out full stories about who the fuck knows what in a fuck tard thread anyway.

Ok. I love this kind of rap music. Guilty pleasure basically. Been listening to Waka since "O Let's Do It" came out. I've seen Flocka live. I also met him at my local mall.

But I can not think of one verse where he actually has bars. If you can prove me wrong, that would be awesome. But I really just can't think of one single song where he's actually being truly lyrical.
