Here we are with another MOTM with very, very few votes and literally zero excitement. Compare this to a past MOTM, such as this one:https://www.newschoolers.com/forum/thread/812827/Vote-now-for-the-September-2015-Member-of-the-Month
The difference is that the candidates generate no excitement (gee, sound familiar?). They all have uploaded some pics and some vids, but are largely inactive on the forums. Of those running, the only name I even recognize is SammyDubz. I see no reason to vote when I know nothing about the candidates and don't relate to any of them.
Want people to get excited about MOTM again? Put together a small prize pack, select candidates who are actually known, and get people psyched! Let's have the candidates get on the thread and tell us why we should vote for them. Let's have them throw some punches, make some jokes about themselves...anything! As it presently stands, this may as well be the final MOTM because clearly no one gives a damn.

Finish out this month because it is already started, but then put it on hold and start it again when it is something that will get people excited - both those in the running and the voting members. Re-launch with some fanfare, and use a different method to select candidates. Do this month's candidates even know they are in the running? There have been no comments from them, no one saying anything to hype people on any of them...nothing.
MOTM used to be fun - and it can be again - it just needs a reboot.

I'm on here every day and I didn't even realize I was nominated...I think that goes to say something about what this has become. When I first joined here I thought it would be sick to be recognized and contribute and even be nominated for MOTM but now I'm kinda just like eh whatever and I still feel there's tons of people more deserving than me but at the same time I recognize like one other name on the list so who knows.
one thing I will say is that it is kinda cool to be noticed and for me it's motivation to keep posting and contribute
I'm totally for overhauling the system like everyone has said
oh and if anyone else nominated wants to throw down get in here right now

Just noticed this morning that I was nominated for MOTM without any kind of notification. Pretty excited to see that I was included in the nominations for April!
Over the past year or two I have been working hard to connect with as many skiers as possible in order to gain more and more experience behind the lens. Last season I set the goal for myself to earn POTD just once, which unfortunately didn't work out for me. Since last season I have had a fire burning inside, and I have thus put in as much effort as possible to up my photo game. Since the beginning of this season I have had six of my photos featured as POTD from all around Michigan and southern Ontario, Canada.
Stoked to see that my efforts are gaining some recognition on here, and I hope to do nothing but improve behind the lens throughout the coming years!
