1.8t's are one of the better motors out there for sure, there's a reason they're in so many cars. 1.8t's are stupidly cheap to make fast and still do it pretty reliably. Chip it, test pipe, headers, FMIC, and injectors will run you under a grand and you'll be smoking vr6's more reliably. I have a 1.8t in a b5 a4, so I'm not sure about how VW does things, but make sure to check the engine codes, ie the AEB makes 20 less horsepower than the AWM, and the AWM has bigger oil lines going into the turbo, so the turbos don't blow as often. Just be careful when choosing a car, not all 1.8t's are created equal
