Vista Partition Help

Alright heres my situation. Right now my hard drive has like 4 gigs of space left, Which sucks. Im getting an external soon but right now I need more space. I have a drive with windows 7 which can be totally deleted for all I care (aka useless partition) And I have an empty drive with 16 gigs (unallocated) that doesnt show up on 'computer' for some reason. Apparently theres a way to merge the drives if you have nothing in the drive your merging without extra software. I just really need help.

Heres a couple screenshots if it helps:

And for anyone wondering why im getting rid of 7beta, its because this is my laptop and im installing the newest beta version (comes out soonish) on my actual computer.

Anyways thanks for the help and +k as always

..delete 7's partition, resize your first partition's size to take advantage of all of your space.

i'm not sure about the partitioning software included with vista, but check out symantic partition magic, or acronis disk director.. they've helped me out a bunch of times before in resizing disks

but like i said right now i have that 16 gigs doing nothing, and If i wanted to apply that to my drive how would I do that? when i right click my main c: drive it doesnt allow me to extend volume, only shrink.

then definitely get partition magic or acronis disk director.. they allow resizing up and down easily.

i'd recommend partition magic over acronis as well.

do you use torrents? if so, those two are easy to find on thepiratebay

ya ive already found one but theres comments saying its not good with vista (partition magic 8), Are you running xp or vista?

i had xp when i used it..

i think the problem with your partition only being able to shrink is because 7 is in the way.. i'd say delete the 7 partition, make your main partition as big as you want, then leave some room for your new 7 installation, then you'll be all set

just looked at partition magic on nortons website and it cant be used on vista, just xp. So ill try the other one you mentioned and hopefully it works.

well i mean, read my last post again.. if you're going to be installing an entirely new 7.. then why not just delete the one you have now so you dont have to worry about fucking up your booter by using 3rd party programs

if i thought of that earlier, then i wouldn't have even mentioned partition magic or acronis

no no no you read my thread wrong, Im trying to do this on my laptop, Im downloading the new 7 on my actual computer.

ooh, my bad

alright then, try using a partitioning program to resize it then, i obviously dont know what works on vista and what doesnt

my bad

sorry that i wasnt too helpful dude

whaaattttt!

im assuming/hoping you have an external?

And thanks for the help hartig. I used that 2nd program you ave me and now have 30 gigs of harddrive, and 11 more coming when i decide to format one of my other drives haha. + k dude
