Visiting MSU

In June I'll be visiting Montana State University for the first time. I've never been that far west. MSU seems to be my top school right now. Things I plan to do are:

1. look at the school (duh)

2. drive to Bridger Bowl to see how long the drive is

3. Check out the town

4. go to yellowstone

Any other suggestions? I'm going with my mom so no partying and I'm a huge music guy so give me something about the Bozeman music scene.

its short af, but the longer drive to big sky is 100% worth it in my opinion. Have fun waiting in rediculous schlasmans lines while everyone on lone peak is hot lappin (except for the tram but who cares)

Bozeman has a good music scene for how far out of the way it is, but its pretty much all 21+. Your best bet is to see if the Eagle is having an 18+ show while you're in town but you're probably SOL. Be sure to listen to KGLT (public radio station broadcasted from campus) if you're driving around and while you're in the park. The DJ's can be hit or miss, but the good ones are pretty damn good.

Look into renting bikes while you're in town, one of the best parts about Bozeman is how commuter friendly it is. Its a great way to see the town and start to know your way around.

I'm assuming you're outdoorsy, you should go hiking in some of the nearby National Forest.

I didn't go to either, but had friends that went to both and I visited, here is how I felt.

MSU - I feel like you will like it more if you grew up in a more rural community, bridger bowl is awesome skiing...so is big sky.

U of U - If you like living in a big city and easy access to Alta/Snowbird/Solitude/Brighton/Canyons/PC and polygamy.

If you blaze, drink, or if considering living on campus, fuck MSU. Probably the least lax place to go to school other than private institutions.
