so im in bozeman visiting for orientation to msu and i dont know anyone around here cause im from vt. anyone here live there or go to msu? what did you guys think of the school? the town seems legit, its got a burlingtonish feel to it. the campus looks great as do the surrounding neighborhoods. its a little slow now but i wonder what it will be like with ~12,000 more kids in town when school starts. the people are real friendly too like btown. i drove to bridger bowl which looks so sick i cant wait to shred that on my elizabeths! the moutain air smells so good too, piney and fresh. anyways if anyone wants to chill, walk around, let me know about the area, smoke some weed, drink a few beers or whatever im down.

go get a meal at the naked noodle its so awesome there and check out the used sports wear shop found some sick nikes there oh and chalet sports my sister goes there not me. oh and never stay at the last motel to the east bunch of crack heads and shit there but over all an awesome town

Bozeman is pretty rad. And this upcoming semester will be my third semester there, so I can vouch that MSU is pretty cool as well. What are you studying?

Fuck I wish I was in montana right now. I live in Missoula, but at the moment I'm in cali till mid august.

On the other hand I'm a bout a paper air planes distance from the dudes at Powder mag. I know because I throw paper airplanes at them a lot from my desk.

If you got a car, go drive past bridger, to a place called fairy lake. there is some dope back country above it. probly still snow there. bring some beer or a few nugs and take a hike. thats about as good as it gets in bozeman.

have fun dude. jealous.

I'm applying for MSU as well as UM for the spring... seeing that none of the california schools are taking kids for a whole year now.

Wouldnt be stoked to pay out of state fees though...

its not. its about 10000 more per year for out of state to montana. So I'd be paying for another 20 grand in student loans (yeah, i'm paying my way thru cuz i'm a baller like that)

Only thing I'd really be worred about the skiing is the complete and utter lack of legit terrain parks in MT.

Anyone care to prove me otherwise? I mean.. i know the terrain is off the hook, but I'm definitely going to want to hit some jibs early and late in the season, you know... how's the urban scene in missoula/bozeman?

if you want park, you're pretty much screwed if you go to UM. you'd have to drive over an hour for an alright park. MSU has much better skiing hands down. you have bridger, moonlight, and big sky. bridger is so sick if you want powder and nice terrain. both moonlight and big sky have sweet parks (although big sky's is questionable for next year). i love moonlight's park, really long with a lot of sweet jibs. they don't make snow for jumps, but i've heard they're starting for next year

Yeah.. looks like Discovery is the closest thing to missoula with anything resembling a park, because snowbowl definitely doesnt have one...

Whitefish is 2-3 hours away, and schweitzer is about 3.5 hours away...

MSU seems legit for skiing, but for partying I hear it blows due to having a 55-45 guy-girl ratio, whereas UM is exactly the opposite and in a bigger town...

They both have film programs though, so at least I have a choice in the matter...

Lost Trail is fairly close and their park can be alright, but nothing special. MSU is definitely the better ski school, but I agree i think Missoula is a much cooler town. I know there's a lot of NSers in Bozeman, so you could probably find some alright parties

just go to fuckin UVM in Vermont!!! hahaha...nahhh bozeman is pretty legit...they give some mad aid for SAT's soooo u just had to do good on those

just view it as your opportunity to expand your skill set and start killing the back country dude.

and that sucks about tuition, but he numbers on the website are inflated.

or just go half time for a year and get instate tuition after that like everyone else does.

sean you can also try to get WUE money. i'm not sure how it works if you applying for spring semester but it got me in for cheaper than CU Bolder. i'm sure you could call and an advisor would be able to help you figure out the cheapest way to get through.
