Views on solo shreddin

I have no one to ski with, and am always soloin it. Everybody at my school, that skis ,is with the theatre crowd. They all enjoy wearing lycra and dressin up like fuckin cats. Not a sob story, just want some input on what to do....
 
Meh, depends on the day I guess. Some days its nice to have your buddies to shred with, but others its nice to just get away from it all.
 
just talk to some kids at your mtn while you waitin to drop, although its nice every once in a while theres nothing like shredding with your friends
 
I shredded by myself today. Sometimes it's nice to just shred and think about things during the day. But yeah just talk to people at the top of the park or riding the lift even. You will meet people.

man, I love a good solo shred, especially if I'm really pushing it and throwing down. our sport can be so insecure sometimes... easy to get caught up in how you look and trying to impress people. its good to know that its still fun to push it when noone is looking
 
I find 1/2 the fun of skiing is doing it with friends, i don't ski alone very often, except pow days which i rarely do.
 
In the park I don't like skiing alone.

In the powder I like skiing alone because I want to go as fast as I can and get up there as soon as possible too; now, I don't like solo skiing in pow because it's dangerous and I can't share my STOKE with anyone else! That's seriously the best thing in the world: Having the best pow run and at the bottom you're just so stoked it's on real and you can just scream, laugh and talk about it with your friend having the sickest adrenaline rush!
 
yeah its cool to ski with friends in park, but depends on their skill level. man i hate when my bud comes skiing and we must go slow as turtle, and sometimes i would rather ski alone just to practise etc. i hate it when my friends say all the time: "dO that trick, OMG can you do that trick what that guy just threw??? TRY IT TRY IT TRY IT"but sometimes its good time. and powder is cool with friends, if the friend is not turtle again. i like to go fast, and not wait..

i have no friends on a powderday ...
but seriously, depends, if im on a trip with other good skiers i enjoy skiing with some friends, but if they cant keep up, i'm sorry, but powder>friends
 
Always good to have a couple of buddies to shred with and get stoked on each others riding.......just talk to some people waiting to drop in or on chairs etc
Riding alone can be pretty fun aswell, but i never feel pushed to try any new stuff without someone to watch
 
im kinda in the same situation.....my friends cant come up this year cuz of $ so im skiing with my little brothers all year...and the local kids in the park i guess
 
yea i usually shred with friends but if they cant come i just go by myself i think its really good for getting some new moves down and just talk to people make new friends so you have someone to go with every time
 
I really do not enjoy skiing alone. I also do not like skiing with people who I have to stop and wait for every 2 minutes. Skiing solo is good sometimes, thats when I learn most stuff in the park, because you don't have any pressure on you. But its also fun to stomp a new trick with friends around, although they are rarely watching when you do haha.
 
Skiing alone can be dangerous to if you get hurt and cant get out. I had it happen once. An there isn't always cell service on the mountain
 
but if you hurt yourself and you are alone then you are fucked. i would never push myself without friends. pow is one thing, but park friends are important
 
I'm a huge fan of the solo shred although it does suck not being able to go into some dicier (sp?) zones when you are by yourself.
 
I rarely get to ski alone but I cherish it when I do.

To me there is nothing better than ripping thru the woods with a few buddies especailly on a pow day but skiing solo can be pretty relaxing and I def enjoy it.
 
When i ski alone i blast music pretty loud. For me iv made friends or at least people to ski with occasionally just by talking to them in the park or when i see em around the mountain
 
Love skiing alone can do shit at my own pace turn my music up all the way dont gotta wait for anyone

ridin with a crew is nice everyone once and awhile too, if im hiking i dont mind bein with a couple people
 
i ski alone all the time cause i dont know too many people who ski. i kinda like it because i can think about new tricks and stuff so i progress way faster, and i get more runs because i can just snake the line as a single. my home mountain is very small tho so if i get lonely i can usually find someone to shred with
 
I prefer it on pow days. Ive been shredding pow with friends for the past 2 days. Its fun and all but waiting for their slow asses to come is irritating. I just like taking as many pow laps as possible solo.
 
I pretty much always solo shred. I work afternoons right now and only get 3 or so hours in a day so I like to get as many runs in as I can. Agree with everyone else tho if you're gonna fly solo, you need some tunes.
 
lol i don't ski with that many friends either, but thats because most of my friends are theatre kids. try skiing with them man, while i agree that some of them are annoying and dramatic, a lot of theatre kids are really smart funny people. just gotta find the ones that you do like, and what better way to do that then skiing
 
i love skiing alone because i can go where i want and do what i want. as long as i have music its all good.
 
Pretty much this. I like skiing alone most days, and when you ride in the trees even with friends its like you are alone. But it is sweet to have someone the sit on the chair with, and keep the stoke going. Plus, skiing with better/faster skiers helps you push it harder.
 
If im in the park 90% of the time im alone. I just love to take laps and listen to tunes. Tree skiing im always with friends or my brother.
 
i pretty much prefer skiing by myself. partly because most of the friends i ride with either dont keep up or dont have the same interests as me. alot of the time i would rather ski with my dad and his buddies than my friends. I also love skiing alone cuz i get to do what i want to do all day long. go as fast, as slow, and anywhere i want

but talk to people on the lift or at the top of the park or a drop zone. if u talk for a few then they might ask u to join em. or u might see em the next week where u can talk more.. what ever the situation might be
 
I've been skiing bymyself 50% of the time ever since I went to college. Most people at my school are not that into riding and don't want to go every other day, and the people I used to ski with in highschool can't afford it on their own so they kinda stopped going.
 
I'm a loner kinda guy, and not just on the snow.

So it's about 90 % of the time on my own, and with my travel habits, going alone is inevitable.

That said, you'll progress far more if you ski with other people.

 
depends what you shred, in the backcountry i ride with someone incase of injury or i get lost, but in the park it is fun to ride by yourself someday

 
If I can avoid it I shred with someone else. Unless I'm just in my backyard, or something. The best parts of skiing are laughing with your friends, talking about stupid shit, and motivating each other to do better stuff.
 
If your on the hill with friends your own skill level the more the better. If there not as good, and you always end up waiting for their slow asses to make it down the hill then II take my headphones and some random chairlift encounters any day. Although having friends shred with you pushes you to push yourself.
 
i like to shred on my own, but i definitely progress more when there are other people to shred with. i ski at a pretty small mountain, so i always run into people i know.
