Video Tripod Reccomendations

Hate to start "What (insert gear here) should I buy?" threads but the old search bar didn't help me much so here I am.

I'm in need of a full setup (fluid head & legs), planning to use it mostly for filming urban but also for weddings in the summer. Weight isn't too much of an issue since I wont be hauling it onto the hill or backcountry. Stability and a smooth head are most important to me. Seen some cheaper ones but the consensus on most budget heads is that the drag is pretty tight even when it's loosened up all the way and I'd like something that can handle fast whip pans.

Would be dope to find something under $350ish but know that isn't even much to work with in the world of tripods.

Any suggestions?

manfrotto 502 head

benro s4

What you shootin on ^ might be overkill unless you're using a bigger body or lens with a tripod collar like a 70-200mm. I personally have some SLIK tripod legs

Shooting most skiing on a panasonic g9 or S1. The g9 even with a battery grip isn't too heavy but the S1 (planning to get a telephoto next year) will be a lot more substantial.

Right now I have an old (like real old) manfrotto bogen tripod that just has screws on the tilt/pan joints for adjustment so honestly probably anything will be a huge improvement. I just know I'm better off investing in a quality setup.

Proceeds to recommend $1k tripod

lol

Shit my bad, not trying to pull an eheath there (gottem)... I was just on the phone while replying and didn't read the thread thoroughly haha.

The other suggestions for a benro or manfrotto head are good then, honestly though if you have a bit of patience I bet you could find a used ace around for ~$450 which would be well worth the extra cash!

Hah no worries, I'll check them out
