Video tips

So i do a lot of photography and want to get more into filming. Are there any tips you guys have as far as settings go and what angles are best for follow cam shots?

My setup right now is:

Canon t3i

50mm 1.8

Tamron 17-50mm

Rokinon 8mm fisheye

As for mounts go:

Opteka x grip but the aluminum one not the shitty plastic haha.

And just a regular tripod.

So another question i have is. What mounts should i use and what lens? I was thinking the tamron 17-50 and the opteka and maybe a lil fisheye. I think using the 50mm would be extremly hard to film with.

Im going to be fillming mainly follow cams with some rail shots from a side view.

I look forward to hearing what advice you guys have! Thanks!

Id recommend just getting out there and getting familiar with your stuff. There isn't a written book of angles and settings for every situation your filming. Over time you shall learn. If you need help with setting on the t3i go on YouTube, there are some good videos out there that I used when I was starting out.

Alright cool. Also is magic lantern worth getting? Ive been trying to look up what it does but ill i find are tutorials.

For sure, I was talking with some guys from inspired tonight that swear by it. Its for sure something to invest some time into learning.

...you utilize techniques from other things to develop your own work and creativity...

what you're saying is like saying that skiers shouldn't learn new tricks by seeing other skiers doing those tricks.

I read his comment wrong, I thought he was implying that you should watch edits and edit how they edit in them. He was just missing a word.
