VIDEO of big air finals

well the way it went down was the finalists would go head to head to narrow it down, so jacob got 2nd cuz he and ganier were duking it out for 1st in the last round, and he was trying a fucking rediculous never-done trick so leave him alone, he was throwing kangaroo flips sicker than jon that night and he took it way further on that one going to a 1080. this is all assuming the footy was of the finals, but i didn't bother watching the vid so hopefully that's the case...
 
he did kangaroo flip with a 360 at the end instead of 180. The reason he didn't win is cause he landed way backseat but it's pretty hard not to get top 3 when you've already eliminated every other competitor but 1

I couldn't see from the vid, but that dub kangaroo 3 sounds ill. would have been sick if he could have landed it smooth and upright.
 
octo grab is so sick, jacobs landing was terrible and the extra spin was only a 90 and super ugly. Charles defenitly should of won.
 
dude jacob did what charles did but way bigger and he added two flatspins to it and 1 less 180, and its the first one anyone has ever done, charles was doing the same thing all night, i dont think i could find a better example of spin to win.

i think its pretty gay to say he shouldnt win cause he was backseat. that was his only flaw, and he hopped right up after he hit. he landed it pretty solid to me.

what pissed me off is that charles even qualified, his stuff in the finals were really nice, but in qualifying or semi finals or whatever, he was doing switch 1080's and pretty much landing on the knuckle, while everyone else was going huge, there were plenty of better, smoother and bigger switch 10's that didnt qualify.

mike wilsons switch double back and flatspin thingy off the knuckle didnt qualify somehow, and alexis and that other guy were doing the biggest switch 7's ever almost to the last line, and that didnt make it either.
 
i realy hate how gagnier skis. he just reminds me of a racer that got really good at park skiing and still maintained racer style. idk i just dont like it.

may i add though, that there were about 10 people who did better tricks throughout the comp than sammy carlson as well as gagnier. carlson had no business being in the top 20, little lone making the podium. his sw 10 was boring and plain. gagniers 12 was sick, but not top 3. meanwhile you have jon with kangaroo flips, wilson with a sw double back, schiller with a stomped 14, and about 10 others that i can name that were better than the generic shit sammy carlson pulled. shit id take coscos no poles 180 over carlsons 10.

you should all just realised that you are saying that a switch 1440 should win over a switch 1260 with the most technical grab out there nd that double flips should own everyone???

In my opinion jacob kang 10 was nowhere near being good enought to beat charles, he sketched the landing. You cant win a comp when you sketch out the landing.

now go skiing andtry not to be bitching about who should have done that or that while you dont have a clueabout how the thing is actually being judge.

Cab 7 to the bottom ar way sick too.

and yeah.. charles deserves to win, but i think if jacob would landed nice that one.. he should def. win!
 
Thank you. The comp has to incorporate consistency. In this format, you can just land one sick trick. That's why Charles did the same trick all night. It's also why Tanner wins so much.
 
Had jacob landed clean I'd say he should have won. I can't really say anything about anyone else cause I couldn't see their jumps on the stupid webcast
 
I think that next year the USFO Big Air should be a little more...structured. I know, I hate that word too.

Here's how I would organize it...kinda like the JOI

Invite 24 skiers. To narrow it down to 12, have them go head to head. Make a stipulation though say "best 540" wins the head to head.

When it gets down to 12, best "720" but have them go head to head to head. You compete against 2 others. two out of three.

So then it's down to the final four. Best "900" out of the four...two out of three.

This "forces" the competitors to think about style. They have to get creative about the grabs, and style of the trick.

Here's where it gets interesting though, after that is done...invite the 12 back for a "best trick" comp. Anything goes.
 
last year charles had some different tricks and finished second this year he DID THE SICKEST TRICK all the time and finished first.. don´t know what´s the problem..? of course westers trick was sick, but he didn´t land it clean so .. from the stuff i´ve seen already, the judging was good..

If Jacob made his landing I'd say he could have legit won. However his landing was totally sketch.
 
Yo...here's the problem with your disagreement. BIG AIR INVITATIONAL. The Big Air event is invite only.

I'll agree though, it's setting limits...creative limits I guess.

i wanna see cosco's 180 and straight air, in my mind that was the sickest shit, whether it was stylie or not, 180s are the tits.
 
but these were fucking huge. that jump uses the pipe as the runway and it was about 10 feet higher than the pipe at the lip. granted the only trick he did the entire competition was the kangaroo flip. then he added another 180 in finals
 
he filmed that with a tiny little digital camera. made for pictures and happened to take video. don't hate
