video editing software

i have a hi 8 video camera that i use to do all my filming, but I need to get some editing software so i can add music, text, graphics, and cut parts of our footage. What is the best hi 8 video editing software i can get to do all those things and not have to blow 400 bucks on the software. simple one is Microsoft Movie Shaker, but Adobe premier owns all if you have a mac. You should have iMovie they usually come with it

if you have a Mac, Final Cut Pro 3 is the best, no question. It makes Premier seem like a primitive program with a clunky interface.

Do you have a mac or a pc? if you have a mac, download iMovie 2, it can do pretty much everything you want for a basic movie, and is FREE from apple.

If you are looking for software i've found anything that I have needed through E-donkey or morpheus.

premiere and final cut are very similiar only difference ive noticed in final cut is that there color editing thing (rgb balance) comes up with much richer and consistent color.. cus when you put new color effects and shit in premiere the video tends to react different to light, which is wierd.. doesnt do it as much in final cut.
