Video Cameras

Does anyone know what kind of video cameras the pros use? Film crews like Level 1, Poor Boyz, and MSP look so sick. Anybody got any idea? Thanks...

seems like there have been a lot of FX1s at every shoot i've been on, but there are a lot of HVX200s out there for higer end stuff too.

Level 1

Sony HDR-FX1 (as said above)

Poorboyz

16mm...not sure which model.

MSP

Super16mm...not sure which model.

for digi with pooryboyz they use DVX.....for the film look...yeah...the DVX is a very popular camera

mabye im not in the know but i really thought poorboyz used DVX.... FX1 doesnt have 24p and to get the 60i to look like film is a very hard process...

that title is AFX..and AFX can run on OSX i cut in final cut and AFX...so the plus they actually got someone to do those titles......and the fx-1's are weak im sorry but its a weak attempt at HD it looks like a soap opera....i love the DVX and 24p and the film like gamma curves just put the icing ontop......i have a feeling that everyone is saying fx1 just because berman uses it and you are all from the east coast.....i dont know of 1 snowboard film company that shoots fx1 or another major ski company that shoots fx1.....

I don't see how being from the east coast means shit. I would much rather have a dvx than an fx1 but if you know what you are doing it can look good ie. Berman.

ive ownd a dvx and a gl2 cause my mom bought them for me, i perfer the gl2, suck a good camera

you should care what snowboard companies are doing as they are 4-5 years ahead of skiing film companies.....i i dont see how the fx-1 suit bermans style...whats bermans "style" no offence to skiing but its cinematography is no where near developed enough to deserve people within the industry having a different style....so what berman bought a crane....good idea thats like saying matchstick heli shoot is thier style...how becuase they have sweet $$$$....put simply film looks better than interlaced digital....i realise berman doesnt have the budget to shoot film but im sure if you gave him some sweet cashola he would shoot film and hire helis adn buy the biggest crane known to mankind....ooohh in case somone from level 1 reads this...are you guys going to cross to the HVX and keep with the whole HD thing???? i remmeber neil saying something about how it fairs so wondering if you will be shooting or have shot some HVX???

woah woah woah, you put abot 2 extra paragraphs into my mouth in that post. first off i said nothing about berman's style involving a crane. i would also argue that every different film company has a style weather they deserve it or not. tgr has the powdery semi slo mo epic shots sort of the hippy esque feel, msp has the same slo mo movie every year with way too many park shots, level one has the epic backcountry booters with insainly hard urbans, plehouse has the 'i love skiing soooo much' feel, the list goes on and on. i also NEVER said that bermans movies WOULD NOT look better in film. level one has a budget just like everyone else and as you mentioned film is waaaaaaaaay more expensive. And the reason i say who cares about what snowboarding films are doing is becasue that is what everyone in the whole ski industry says. 'look at snowboarding this... look at snowboarding that' i am getting sick of it. as you said skiing needs to develope its own style instead of being snowboardings little tag a long brother. hooray for a long post

level 1's booters are some of the least epic in the industry....matchstick....too much park..thier moviesa are 60% big mountain....
