i hope your prepared to spend the money. if your buying your first cam you dont need to go way high end. just a suggestion. Check out panasonic too by the way.

mines a pretty good sony mini dv and it was 800-1000 dad bought it and i stole it from him so it works i film skating and skiing and wakeboarding and it works reallyt well

if this is your first camera def buy something cheaper to start out on. I have a sony handycam mini-DV with a wide angle lense that cost me $350. It takes quality video, check out the vids in ecski73 's profile

if you want some variety in your ski movies, get a helmet cam. Theres one at www.oregonscientific.com for $119.

canon optura 10 or 20. best starter camera for the best price out htere. bottom line.

my first camera was a GL2. and Panasonic makes the best video cameras, and I have facts to back that up.

I reccomend a Sony TRV900. its a very good 3CCD cam and is good for starting out.
